The potenЖџal route locaЖџons idenЖџfied on the map
The potenЖџal route locaЖџons on this map were idenЖџfied based on evaluaЖџng
available informaЖџon to determine constraints, the number of residences in an
area and input received during preliminary consultaЖџon with stakeholders. The
potenЖџal route locaЖџons were chosen with the intent of reducing the overall
impacts of the transmission line. Although there are many potenЖџal route
locaЖџons on the map, in the end, only one route will be required for the project.
It is important to note that a final route has not been selected. If the project is
approved by the Alberta UЖџliЖџes Commission, only ONE route will be constructed
which may or may not be located on this parЖџcular map Жџle.

The overall study area has been divided into 21 individual detailed maps. This is
one of the 21 detailed maps. Depending on the locaЖџon of your residence or
property, you may have received more than one map to provide you with more
informaЖџon about potenЖџal route locaЖџons near you. These maps are to help you
locate potenЖџal route locaЖџons more clearly and in greater detail, and to
determine their proximity to you.
Each map is double sided. One side highlights constraints and legal boundaries and
the other side is an aerial photo image which provides landscape details. The lines
on the map represent potenЖџal route locaЖџons. If the line is mulЖџcoloured it
represents potenЖџal route locaЖџons that overlap. The width of the line(s) on the
map are approximately the width of the transmission line right-of-way, which is
the strip of land acquired for the construcЖџon and operaЖџon of a transmission line.

What is the Heartland Transmission Project?
The proposed Heartland Transmission Project involves the construcЖџon of a high
voltage transmission line, which will connect the Heartland region (northeast of
Fort Saskatchewan) to exisЖџng transmission faciliЖџes either west of Edmonton or
in southern Edmonton. AltaLink and EPCOR, the Heartland Project Team, are
working together in the project’s development.
