Happy February! We are looking forward to
seeing you and your child at conferences.
Remember, this is the conference that is
student-involved or student-led. We are
excited to showcase our learning through
our iPads this year! Attending conferences
shows your child that their education is
important to you. Our staff and students
take time to prepare for conferences and
count on you to be there. Thanks for making this a priority in your schedule. It’s also
our school book fair so I hope you take
time to stop by the library and check it out!
Conference days/times can be found on

lessons on middle school transition. It’s

If you have any questions or concerns
about your child and their transition to
middle school please don’t hesitate to call

skills.
Time for Kindergarten Round-Up!
We will be continuing our Little Lancer Club to welcome incoming Kindergartners (now preschool age) and their families
to Scarborough. We have a beginning list of students who will
be attending Scarborough next year as Kindergarteners but
want to make sure we include everyone in our attendance
area. Please call Peggy at Scarborough to let her know names
and address so we can have a current list. Thanks!

February is Dental Health Month!
Guest speakers from Oltjen Orthodontics will be visiting first grade
to give a presentation on dental
health, including all the best ways
to take care of your teeth so that
they will last a lifetime! They will also be giving the
students a small bag of supplies to bring home, so be
watching for that! Please be aware, this is a free service that this office offers to the Olathe community,
Bits and Bytes
Dr. Mollie Day will also be visiting Scarborough on February 23rd to provide cleaning, sealants and other
needed care to students who enroll in the program.
Enrollment forms for this program were sent home
after the dental screening on February 3rd. Only students who return the forms will see the dentist. It is a
free program available to all students. Please contact
me if you need more information.

Back Snack Program Thanks Scarborough
Thank you for your generous and on-going donations to the
Back Snack Program! We continue to share our resources with
families in need. Last school year, working together we provided
more than 1,600 meals to kids in our own community. This
school year, we’ve already given 243 meals to Scarborough kids.
Donations on an occasional basis are welcome, but if you would
like to commit to providing food on a monthly basis, sign up at
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0B4CA4A622A20-back or
contact Christi Mayfield at Christi@followthepath.org or 913397-6453.
Questions? Contact Christi Mayfield. There is a collection bin in
the Scarborough lobby. Thanks in advance for caring for our
community!

Elementary are partnering to provide nutritious food for these
students when school is out on the weekends or during extended
breaks. Each Friday, children are sent home with a sack of food
to provide for them while school meals are unavailable. The primary goal is to eliminate hunger, but studies of similar programs
have shown that participating students have higher test scores,
increased learning capacity, and decreased behavior problems.

like to give, then click “Donate.”
