APRIL 12, 2015 Welcome Visitors and Friends! Thank you for joining Us! Though our building project is not quite completed, there are so many to thank, and how do I do so properly without forgetting someone? If I were to try to mention names I would no doubt forget someone and so I will say thank you first of all to our entire parish, for moving forward with this after a long, long time of planning. Next to the parish councils for their dedication and difficulties in seeing this come to fruition, they have put in countless hours, and in the end, decided we needed to move forward and our new space is a wonderful sign of this. We thank the contractors, the committees, and anyone who donated time, talent and/treasure through your gifts of one or all of these ways to be good stewards. We thank all those instrumental in keeping things in order, including those who oversaw the project, the bookkeeping for spending purposes and balancing and maintaining our trying to stay within the budget. And again, to anyone I’m sure I’ve forgotten. And as I said, the building project is not complete yet, but once it is we will have a finance report for you of the budget verses the actual costs, the costs of fixing and shingling the current church, and I can tell you, that we did very well in these areas, if we do end up over the budget, it really shouldn’t be by much. Liturgy of the Hours: Week II of the Psalter On Easter evening, the risen Jesus appears and shows the disciples “his hands and his side.” It is Jesus who makes the first, convincing move to enable the disciples to believe that he has truly risen from the dead. It is he who wants the disciples to see him, to regain their confidence and peace. He bears the marks of suffering and death. Yet he is risen; he has conquered death. For himself and for all of us. Jim Bernauer for their 10:30 a.m. masses on Sundays. This means that someone has to replace him, as the mass is needed for the summer families. Therefore, the Diocese has told me, that Msgr. Tim McGee and Fr. Todd Arends will be taking these masses, however in this, there are times when they will be taking our 10am mass here at St. Francis out of convenience for them, if their schedule demands this. This schedule will begin Sunday, May 10th, and we will keep you informed. James Johnson are teaming up to address many issues on forgiveness. ♦ Is it dishonest to offer or receive forgiveness when we don’t “feel right˝ about a person? ♦ Why is it such a hard struggle to deal with forgiveness in practical (daily) or family situations? ♦ Is forgiveness of sins a special aspect of the Lutheran faith, or is it common to all religious faiths? Seasons of the Moral Life Theology Day at Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary As we get older, our conceptions of the moral life might change or need deepening. Familiar and learned frameworks, rules, and standards might not address or answer our current questions. Join Kathy Lilla Cox, Ph.D., as she explores new developments in neuroscience and psychology. She shows how these advances in science can help us deepen our understanding of the human person, show us our capacity for change, and have significant implications for morality as we age. We have a sign-up sheet in the entry for someone to make bars in a 10x15 pan and/or serve them on Sunday evening along with the coffee. We need 4 pans of bars and 2 women and/or men to serve. If you cannot serve, please consider making a pan or two of bars. They may be brought to the church on Sunday and they will be delivered to the Legion. The money raised by this event is given back to the community in the way of donations for the sick, prom party, benefits, etc. This is one of the ways we raise money to give back. PLEASE HELP!
