The 3rd International Workshop is a one day and a half day meeting
structured into invited lectures and oral communications of original
research presented by Experts in the field of HIV, HCV and HBV and
strategies to cure them.
In the era of highly efficacious novel therapeutic strategies for HIV and
viral hepatitis, several grey areas that include pathogenesis and correlates
of therapy outcome still remain to be addressed.
The Workshop is meant to address five major issues: I) mechanism(s) of
viral persistence; II) markers of therapy outcome; III) eradication and
functional cure; IV) therapeutic strategies for difficult to treat patients; V)
gender specific issues.
In the idea to maximise scientific exchange, every session will be followed
by a Discussion session led by a Discussant.
Young researchers will be given the opportunity to submit abstracts to
present their original research within scientific sessions or poster
exhibition.
Main Topics
■ HIV pathogenesis
■ Strategies to contain epidemics of HIV and HCV
■ Mechanisms of viral persistence: what role for the virus
and what for the host?
■ Difficult-to-treat patients: what therapeutic strategy in HIV and HCV?
■ CCR5 and modulation of fibrosis progression in HIV/HCV coinfection
■ Beyond viral undetectability in plasma: which markers of therapy
outcome in HIV, HBV and HCV
■ Eradication and functional cure: pharmacology insight HIV,
HBV and HCV
■ Infection and gender: any differences?
Framing the problem in HCV, HIV and HIV/HCV coinfection
