Product key features
 Modular platform solution – cornea and presbyopia today, cataract tomorrow1
 Unique femtosecond technology with outstanding clinical results
 True mobility, true efficiency
Port, Switzerland; February 29th, 2012:
Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG is pleased to announce the new femtosecond platform, the
FEMTO LDV™ Z Models. FEMTO LDV Z2, Z4 and Z6 – are powerful platforms for treating a broad
variety of applications in ocular surgery. The concept embraces a strategy that grows with the
surgeon’s practice, offering the latest technology available today, on a platform that is ready for
tomorrow. Every model is designed for an on-site upgrade; modularity makes it happen. Therefore,
a seamless and stepwise upgrade between the different systems can be performed at any time.
Various cornea and presbyopia treatments today, cataract options tomorrow1.
With more than one and a half million operated2 eyes the FEMTO LDV is based on a proven but
radically different technology. Operating at pulse frequencies in the megahertz range and with very
low pulse energy, the threshold for tissue disruption is reached at very short interaction time. The
advantages are excellent visual outcomes and very fast recovery.
The FEMTO LDV Z Models are designed to be moved between various operating theatres. Real
mobility turns the device in a multi-site universal system and supports an efficient workflow and
higher productivity.
The Ziemer FEMTO LDV Z Models are CE marked and available for delivery. Product launch and
availability for the United States pending FDA clearance. For some countries availability may be
restricted due to local registration.

The creation of a corneal pocket is part of a presbyopia intervention. Availability of related corneal inlays and implants according to policy of
the individual manufacturers and regulatory status in the individual countries. Cataract procedures with the FEMTO LDV Z2, Z4 and Z6 models
are not cleared in the United States and in all other countries. An upgrade possibility for these devices is planned once cataract options are
available and cleared by the responsible regulatory bodies.
