This was one of the first things that we taught our children in family prayers at the table when they were young. • Your soul is inside you. Its too dangerous. Its too costly. So here’s the question for all of us today: • Do I really believe that Jesus Christ is of greater value than all the world? • Do I believe that Jesus Christ is of greater worth then my life? • Am I living as a person who sees supreme value in Christ or am I really just a self-centered person hanging around Jesus in the hope that he can make my life more as I would like it to be? That is the question that confronts us today. My prayer for today is that God would raise up in this church, hundreds of men and women who will say with new commitment or perhaps for the first time, • Jesus Christ is worth more to me than all the world and • following Christ is worth any price, even if it costs me my life. You have said in your Word “Underneath are the everlasting arms” and we pray that your strong arms will be placed around Betty, Theresa, Kristen and Beth, and all of the wider family who know such sorrow today. We pray for Theresa in her great loss. Speed the healing of her body, and bring healing to her soul. • We dare to pray that out of this you will give her a ministry that will • touch and transform thousands of lives for the sake of Your Son. We pray for Betty. Be her help and her shield. • Pour out your Spirit upon her and in this evil day, cause her to stand. • Grant her wisdom.
