JOB DESCRIPTION Development Officer Starting Salary: £24,090- £28,888 (dependent on experience) Responsibilities: Permanent Position Cycling Scotland’s vision is a sustainable, inclusive and healthy Scotland where anyone, anywhere can enjoy all the benefits of cycling. We are recruiting a Development Officer to help achieve the vision of the charity and get more people cycling, reporting to the Behaviour Change Manager. The post is based in our Glasgow office and involves travel across Scotland. The successful candidate will: 1. Project manage the development and deployment of Cycling Scotland’s behaviour change and associated projects in the communities setting aimed at encouraging more people to make trips by bike and promoting inclusion. 2. Support the implementation of Cycling Scotland’s projects across workplace, community and education settings, through the Cycle Friendly Awards scheme. 3. Administer grant funding to communities seeking to overcome barriers and increase cycling 4. Work with the Senior Development Officer and Regional Cycle Training and Development Officers to expand the cycle training to more communities, and self-funded training courses including, but not limited to, Cycle Trainer, Cycle Patrol, Practical Cycle Awareness Training and Cycle Ride Leader. 5. Identify and effectively communicate to target audiences, especially in the communities setting in order to achieve the organisation’s vision, in partnership with the Communications Officer 6. Work with, influence and consult key partners and networks such as Cycle Friendly Service Centres, Climate Challenge Fund, Sustrans, Cycling UK, other partner organisations and Local Authority and Regional Transport Partnership staff. 7. Establish and maintain records of cycling levels in communities, to supporting monitoring and provide reports as required 8. Support the development of community-based activities, including Bike Week, cycling festivals and partner initiatives, in conjunction with the Marketing and Development Officer. 9. To assist delivery of all Cycling Scotland’s training, events, behaviour change and promotion programmes. 10. Deal with enquiries in a competent and professional manner and within timescales set by the organisation 11. Perform any other duties considered relevant to the post Person Specification: Relevant Experience Special Knowledge & Skills Other Requirements Essential Desirable Knowledge and experience of managing and delivering projects to deliver outputs and achieve successful outcomes Educated to degree level or equivalent through work experience Experience of partnership working and customer service Experience of delivering behaviour change projects, ideally in the communities setting Experience managing budgets Ability and expertise with common office software packages Excellent written and oral communication skills with good attention to detail Experience influencing change in large and small organisations Good reporting skills and ability to make presentations and run workshops Ability to influence decision makers Act on own initiative and take responsible decisions Knowledge of active and sustainable travel and interest in cycling. Willingness to work flexible hours on occasion and to travel as required remotely throughout Scotland Ability to recognise and share good practice Effective team player Understanding of relevant national and local government policies Experience influencing change with community groups Experience of working in communities setting Awareness of health inequalities
