• Benin City CNG Project
• On 7th March’ 2007 NIPCO plc made its presentation to the Inter-ministerial
Team of FGN at Abuja on the CNG Program and on 21st March’2007 FGN
accorded its approval for the proposed project at Benin City.
• NIPCO introduced CNG in the Benin City, Edo State, on a pilot scale, to
demonstrate to the Public, the Government & other stakeholders, the
followings:
• Its seriousness towards the CNG business in Nigeria.
• Its Project implementation capabilities.
• The benefits of CNG over conventional fuels.
• Popularize CNG as a new vehicular fuel in Nigeria.

• NIPCO formed a Joint Venture Company, GREEN GAS LIMITED, with the
Nigerian Gas Company Limited (NGC) to implement the CNG project.
• Important targeted parameters of the Benin City CNG project are:
• Target for CNG Vehicle Conversion :
50,000 CNG Vehicles in 3 to 4 yrs
• CNG Stations:
8 to 10 Nos. in first 2 yrs
• Steel Pipelines to be laid:
Around 50kms in first 2 yrs
• CNG Conversion workshops:
2 Nos. in first 2 yrs
