Address during 49th Conference of IC at Beijing (China)

Prof. Kamal Chopra, President, AIFMP was invited to deliver the Key-note
Address during the 49th International Circle of Educational Institutes for
Graphic Arts Technology and Management (IC). It is for the first time ever that
an Indian printer delivered key-note address during IC conference. It is an
honour that an Indian was invited to deliver the key-note address at this
prestigious international conference.
The 49th IC was held at Beijing, China on 14 and 15 May, 2017. IC is an
international body representing 27 countries and is the apex body of Graphic
Art institutions worldwide. The conference lasted 3 days, and was divided into
3 parts: keynote speech, panel discussions and visiting printing companies.
More than 200 delegates, who are from Beijing Institutes of Graphic
Communication, South China University of Technology, Tianjin University of
Science & Technology, Hangzhou Dianzi University, Xi'an University of
Technology, Wuhan University, Qilu University of Technology, Zhejiang
University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Zhengzhou Institute of
Surveying and Mapping, Shanxi University of Science & Technology, Harbin
University of Commerce, Tianjin University of Commerce, Dalian Polytechnic
University, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, Qufu Normal
University, Beijing Technology and Business University, Linköping University,
Stuttgart Media University, Warsaw University of Technology, Kauno
Kolegija/University of Applied Science, Artevelde University College, School of
Engineering and Management Vaud, more than 60 domestic and abroad
printing and packaging related institutes, universities and enterprises,
participated the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kamal Chopra said, his aim was promotion of
printing which is one branch of Graphic Arts. He said no one can live without
printing. He spoke on packaging design during this conference. He said,
Packaging is an emerging science, an emerging engineering discipline, and a
success contributor to most of the industries. Apart from the huge value
addition and employment involved in these activities, packaging has served the
world economy by helping preservation of the quality and lengthening the
shelf life of innumerable products, ranging from milk and biscuits, to drugs and
medicines, processed and semi-processed foods, fruits and vegetables, edible
oils, electronic goods etc., besides domestic appliances and industrial
machinery and other hardware needing transportation.
Giving prospects of Indian printing and packaging industry, Prof. Chopra added
that India is emerging in printing and with small efforts it is possible to convert
India as the hub for the global outsourced printing and packaging work.

Appreciating the views expressed by Prof. Kamal Chopra, President LUO Xue
indicated in his address, that he expects achievement in science, engineering
and management aspects of image technology and media industry. Stressing
the need for “Development Prospect of Printing Education” which triggered
participates’ deep discussion about printing education, Prof Luo appreciated
the activities of AIFMP on industry institution linkage and said that name of
AIFMP will be included as an institute in the database of IC. He also aspired for
such type of cooperation in future also. 
