Sports News: April and May
Football:
Purbeck Cup:
We have played our last three Purbeck Cup matches over the past two months. Our first game was
against Wool Primary which we won 23-0 the goalscorers were Tom (6), Finlay (2), Jonah (3), Ollie,
Ollie (4), Dante (5) and Harvey.
We then played Swanage St Mary’s which we knew would be one of our hardest games. We were 10 down early on but just before half time we equalised with a great goal by Dante. Some great build
up play resulted in Dante going around the keeper and finishing the ball with his left foot. In the
second half we came close to a second but unfortunately we conceded a penalty which Swanage
scored to win the game 2-1.
Our final game was against Langton, we played some really good football on the day which resulted
in a 11-2 win, a great way to end the season. The goalscorers were Thomas (5), Jonah, Dante, Jacob,
Finlay, Ollie and Harvey.
Tennis:
I am delighted to say that our year 3/4 tennis team has qualified for the finals at the Dorset School
Games. They came first in their group and then progressed to the final against Bovington. They won
a very close final by 4 points so well done to Xan, Harley, Sharissaa and Roxy.
We also held a tennis day on Wednesday 25th June. Neil Darragh came in from Purbeck tennis club
and delivered some fun tennis sessions to each year group. The children had a fantastic time if you
would some more information on how to get involved, please do ask as it would be great to get
more children involved at the Sports Centre with Neil.
Cricket:
Some more great news this time in cricket. Our year 5’s played in a tournament in Swanage against 4
other teams. They managed to win all their games and have progressed to the county finals which
will be held in Wimborne. Throughout the games the team played some fantastic cricket, everyone
managed to overarm bowl and in each game they scored a high number of runs.
Tag Rugby:
As well as the competing in the Dorset school games for netball we also qualified in the tag rugby
this was held at the Leaf Academy. We were put into a group and played 3 games, in these games
we won 2, draw 1 and lost 1, this meant that we finished 3rd in our group which meant we were put
into another group which was group 4. In these games the winner of every group would receive a
trophy so were playing against all the other teams that finished 3rd. I am delighted to say that we
won all of our games in the group and finished top. Some fantastic rugby was played on the day and
we all had a fantastic time.
