Prison Ball
Indoor Games - strategy/team work/running/dodging
Playing Area: 60 x 35m
Equipment: Bibs for half the class • 20 witches hats/cones • 2 soccer balls
Playing Time: 20 minutes
Instructions
• Divide the class into 2 teams of up to 15 students. Play begins with teams facing each other in opposing
halves of the court. All students may run anywhere on either side. And both teams are attacking and
defending at the same time.
• Each team tries to capture their opponents ball and return with it into their half of the court without
being tagged and penalised.
• Once they are in possession of the ball it is passed to team members while trying to avoid being tagged
and losing the ball.
• To win, the ball must be carried by a runner into their half of the court, not kicked or thrown over the
line to a team mate.
• A player inside the ball’s coned area is considered ‘safe’ and cannot be tagged. Students may rest there
without penalty while trying to get to the ball.
• Opposition players escort tagged players to their teams’ prison ‘PP’. Captured players remain in prison
until a team member makes it safely to the prison to free them. Once free, they must return to their
side of the court before rejoining the game.
• If a student in possession of the ball is tagged they are escorted to prison and the ball is returned to its
coned area.
Note: Balance teams with
good runners.
If too many end up in
Prison, declare all free
to join in the game.
