Newsletter #7 – Friday 28th November 2014 Dear Parents and Friends, It has been a very busy fortnight behind the scenes. I have met with the class teachers to discuss the progress of the children and to agree ways of helping them meet their ambitious targets. I am sure that, like me, you will be impressed with the good starts that children have made when you get a chance to meet with the teachers over the next few weeks. We were also visited by Liz Strange, our school improvement advisor. She was very pleased with her findings and her report was very positive. Quotes include, ‘The outcomes for summer 2014 were pleasing given the absence from the staff of an outstanding practitioner and during a period when there were new teachers in the school,‘ ‘There have been some significant improvements across many aspects of the school’s provision in the last year’ and ‘. The school is performing very well’. I would like to thank everybody’s hard work in contributing to these achievements. PARENTS MEETINGS – Meeting schedules have been put up outside classrooms for parent meetings with your child’s class teacher next week. Please see the class teacher if you haven’t booked an appointment yet. Starling & Owl classes on Monday, Wagtail, Woodpecker and Chaffinch classes on Tuesday. Robin and Wren class meetings will be held on Wednesday 10th December. CLUB UPDATE Games Club has been cancelled next Wednesday 3rd December due to the Early Years nativity taking place in the hall. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday 10th December. IMPORTANT - ASTHMA INHALERS If your child suffers from asthma please make sure a spare, up to date inhaler, is kept in school at all times. If you bring one to school each day it can easily be forgotten and then not be available if needed. You can request additional inhalers from your Doctor. WOODPECKER CLASSROOM – Please do not walk through Woodpecker class to get from one end of the school to the other. After 9.00am the children have started their learning and parents’ walking through the class disrupts their learning. Many thanks for your consideration. EARLY YEARS NATIVITY PERFORMANCE Robin and Wren classes are performing ‘Welcome Little Baby’ on Wednesday 3rd December. Please make sure you complete the form sent home if you require tickets for the 4.00pm production. The KS1 nativity will take place on Tuesday 16th December at 2pm & 6pm and the KS2 nativity will take place on Wednesday 17th December at 2pm and 6pm. Letters regarding allocation of tickets will be sent out shortly. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. HELP REQUIRED – We are still looking for volunteers to hear children read on a regular basis. If you are able to help in any way or know of anybody who may be keen to do so then please enquire at the school office.
