Comprehensive with practice and game info

Welcome to the (insert season) LSO (insert division)Soccer Season!
We are looking forward to a great season! Some important information regarding the season is below.
1.
Practices.
We are allowed to start practicing (insert date). Our practices days and times will be assigned (insert when). We will communicate
that information to you via email as soon as we get it.
We will strive for 2 practices per week. The only times we will NOT practice twice per week are:
 When/if we have a weeknight game
 If there are games scheduled and we have no field space for that night (We will let you know as soon as I do if this is an
issue)
 If there is lightning and/or thunder
 If the coaching team has some unavoidable conflict and no one can be at practice—which is not expected but things do come
up unexpectedly.
If LSO closes the fields and there is NO LIGHTNING AND/OR THUNDER (i.e. the fields are wet, etc) we will practice in the grass
area beside the field, assuming we can do so safely.
For field locations, please go to http://www.lakotasports.org/soccer and choose Soccer Field Locations on the left menu.
For every practice, please have the (insert boys or girls):
 Bring their own (insert size) ball marked with their name or initials in black permanent marker
 Bring a water bottle, also marked with their name or initials in black permanent marker
 Wear shin guards under socks
 Wear soccer cleats (be sure that there is NO TOE cleat). Tennis shoes can also be worn if necessary, but sandals/flip flops,
etc are not permitted.
 Take off all jewelry (earrings, rings, watches, necklaces, etc...)
 Be sure to not wear anything hard- including hair accessories
 Mark all belongings (bags, etc) with their name in black permanent marker so if something is left at practice we can get it
back to you!
PLEASE DRESS THE (insert BOYS.GIRLS) FOR WHATEVER THE WEATHER IS LIKE!!!!!!!!!!!
For the first day of practice:
Please bring the following:
1. Emergency medical form, both sides filled out in either BLUE INK or RED INK. Use the following link to download and
print it off (if the link does not work, just cut and paste it into your URL):

2.
Parent/Player Code of Conduct, printed and signed by you and your (insert son/daughter). This can be found at:
http://lakotasports.org/coaches-corner-soccer/78-lakota-sports/104-forms-documents-for-coaches
2.
Games
Games will start (insert date). We expect to have the game schedule by (insert date). We will play (insert #) games – mostly on
Saturdays, with a few during the week. The season runs (insert date) through (insert date).
In an effort to cut some cost, LSO is no longer printing names on the backs of jerseys. However, we can choose to pay approx $3.00 a
shirt to have this done. I have no problems with us doing this or not, but would like for either ALL to do it or none. Please let us
know your vote. If we decide to do this, we will drop them off and pass them back out to the players all together.
For every game, please have the (insert boys or girls):
 Wear their uniform- shirt tucked in, shorts, and socks
 Wear shin guards under socks
 Wear soccer cleats (be sure that there is NO TOE cleat)
 Bring their own size (insert #) ball marked with their name or initials in black permanent marker
 Bring a water bottle, also marked with their name or initials in black permanent marker
 Take off all jewelry (earrings, rings, watches, necklaces, etc...)
 Be sure to not wear anything hard- including hair accessories
 Mark all belongings (bags, etc) with their name in black permanent marker so if something is left at practice we can get it
back to you!
Game Play Time
We will make every effort to ensure all players get equal amounts of playing time. We will also ensure that all players learn to play all
positions (i.e. full back, half back, wings/forwards, and goal) as this gives them the ability to be a more well-rounded player.
However, as the season progresses and the (insert boys/girls) find their niche as a team, we may limit position rotation to suit the
players skills and abilities and optimize team strategies.
As passionate and proud parents, families, and friends, please abide by the Parent/Player Code of Conduct and LSO/SAY
rules during all games.
3.
Weather
LSO maintains 2 sources of field cancellations, which are both updated by 4:00 pm on weekdays and 8:00 am on weekends or more
frequently as needed.


LSO's Rain out hotline - (513) 684-4944 – lists field status by location and division (we are STRIKERS)
LSO Website: http://www.lakotasports.org/field-status - lists field status by location
Please check the hotline and/or website if there are storms in the area or if it has rained in the last 24 hours to see if the field is
open before practices and games.
If the field is closed, the game is cancelled. We will NOT be making last minute calls for game cancellations.
However, for practices, if a field is open and it is raining, we will most likely have practice, we will notify you by e-mail if we DO
NOT. If the rain is not too extreme we may try to get through a whole practice, but if it doesn’t let up or gets worse (think torrential
down pour), we will call it earlier- so be sure to stay close!
LSO has a very strict policy regarding thunder and lighting, Officials are required to stop games as soon as lighting or thunder is seen
or heard, close or far away. At practices or games without officials, it is the responsibility of the coaches to stop. Everyone should
leave the field and seek shelter in cars or closed buildings, not under trees or in open shelters. It is our policy to wait thirty minutes
from the last seen lighting or last heard thunder before returning to the field. For each new occurrence of thunder or lighting, thirty
minutes must be started again. Remember safety is the number one concern.
Each sport has guidelines as to when games can continue after delays. Please check with the sport commissioners and coordinators for
directions on continuing games. Usually only one thirty minute delay is allowed to continue a game. Games and practices must stay
within their time frame if they are to be continued.
4.
Attendance for practices and games
We expect everyone to be at all practices and games, but we also recognize that things come up that can not be avoided/foreseen. If
your (insert son/daughter) will miss a practice or a game, please notify us ASAP – either at the practice or game before, via email, or
via cells. This will help us plan practices and games efficiently. We spend a significant amount of time planning practices to ensure we
build the right skills and teamwork for games, as well as arranging game line-ups to ensure playing time, position rotation, and game
strategies. For these reasons, we would appreciate your consideration.

Parent Volunteers are always needed- please let me know what you are willing to do:



End-Of-Game Drink & Snack Scheduler: We need a parent to be in charge of making a schedule for each family to bring
the end-of-game drink & snack
End of Season Party: We need a parent to coordinate the end of season party---set the location, theme (Pizza, Ice Cream,
etc), Coordinate what is needed for the party, collect money if needed for supplies, food donations (again if needed), etc….
Team Fundraiser Contact: We need a parent to be responsible for any LSO fundraising necessary this season. In past
seasons, we have sold tickets; so in that case, this parent would be responsible for dividing up our teams’ allotted tickets,
handing them out to the families, collecting them before my deadline, counting sold ticket stubs, and ensuring the money and
unsold tickets are accounted for and then getting it back to me!!!
