TEAMANDINDIVIDUALREGISTRATION:AllteamandindividualregistrationsmustbesubmittedthroughtheSportsPleX
onlineregistrationsystem.IndividualregistrationsincludethereleaseofliabilityandOhioconcussionlaw,whichmustbe
completedbyeachplayerand/orthelegalguardian.TheCoach/TeamContactmustcompleteteamregistrations.Anemail
willbesenttotheregistrationemailaddressprovidedintheregistrationformwithinstructionsoncompletingtheonline
teamroster,whichincludestheOhioconcussionlawandreleaseofliability.Allplayers/legalguardianswillberesponsiblefor
completingtheseformspriortotakingthefield.Noparticipationisallowedpriortocompletionoftheformslistedabove.Any
additionstotheteamrosterafterthefirstgamesmustalsofollowthispolicy.Amaximumof18playersareallowedperteam.
Teamsmay,however,makenecessaryadditions/deletionstoteamrostersuptothefourthgameoftheseason.Playingnonregisteredplayerswithyourteamwillresultinaforfeit.Aplayermayberosteredonmultipleteamswithinadivision.
PAYMENTS:Registrationswillbeacceptedwithfullpaymentora$200non-refundabledeposit.Fullpaymentmustbemade
beforethesecondgame.IfSportsPleXhasnotreceivedfullpaymentbycloseofbusinessonthe“fullpaymentduedate”,your
CreditCardenteredattimeofregistrationwillbechargedtheoutstandingleaguefeeplusanadditional$35.00latefeecharge.

REFEREEPAYMENTSYSTEM:Inadditiontoyourteamfeesallteamsareresponsibleforpayingtherefereesbeforeeach
gamecanbegin.ThisdoesnotapplytoSportsPleXyouthrecreationalleagues;i.e.Grasshoppers,Kickers,Wings,Passers,
Strikers,HSCoedRec,AdultCoedRec,andOver45Men.Therefereewillnotstartagameuntilpaymentisreceivedfromboth

BENCHASSIGNMENTS:Thefirstteamnamedonthescheduleisthehometeam.Thesecondteamnamedisthevisitingteam.

COACHESAREMANDATORY:ForU-8throughHighSchoolDivisions.Anadultcoachorotherresponsibleadult(25orolder)

EQUIPMENT:SHINGUARDSAREMANDATORYforU-6throughU-18.Thisincludesplayersundertheageof18playingin
Adultleagues.SportsPleXstronglyrecommendsshinguardsinalldivisions.Shinguardsmustbecommerciallymanufactured,
ageappropriateandnotaltered.
Properlypaddedcastsarelegalunlesstherefereejudgestheplayerisusingthecastinadangerousmanner.Management,
beforetakingthefield,shouldcheckthecast.PlayermustalsobereleasedbyaDoctortoplay.
NOJEWELRYistobeworninanyYouthDivision.SportsPleXstronglydiscourageswearingjewelryinALLleagues.The
refereehastherighttorefuseentryintothegameanyplayerwho,inthereferee’sopinion,iswearingdangerousorillegal
equipment.
SHOES:Moldedshoesarerecommended,however,turf,flats,orgymshoesareacceptable.Nosteelcleatsarepermitted.
GAMEDURATION:Gamesshallconsistoftwo22-minutehalves(44-minutegames).Therewillbeatwo-minutehalftime.
CLOCK:Theclockiscontinuous.Therefereemay;however,stoptheclockif,inhisopinion,thereisapossibleextendeddelay
inthegame.However,SportsPleXreservestherighttoshortenthegameduetoaninjuryoranyothercircumstance.
SCORING:AgoalisawardedwhenthesoccerballCOMPLETELYbreakstheplaneofthedasherboards(goalposts)
surroundingthegoal.ONEPOINTwillbeawardedforagoalscoreddirectlybytheattackingteamfrominsidetheopposition’s
defensivezone.TWOPOINTSwillbeawardedforagoalscoreddirectlybytheattackingteamfromoutsidetheopposition’s
defensivezone.Thisincludestheballdeflectingoffadefenderorgoalkeeper.Howeveriftheballdeflectsoffanattacking
playerwithinthedefensivezone,onlyonepointwillbeawarded.Thewhitelineisconsideredpartofthedefensivezone.Ifa
defenderplaystheballbackfromoutsidethedefensivezoneandagoalisscoreddirectly,twopointswillbeawarded.
KICK-OFF:AtSportsPleXweallowtheballtobeplayedforwardorbackwards.
FREEKICKS:Allfreekicksaredirect.Thisincludesthekick-offandkick-in.Thedefendingteammustbeatleast10feetfrom
theballuntilitisinplay.Atimepenaltymaybeassessedforencroachment.Thefreekickmustbetakenwithin5secondsafter
therefereehasdeemedtheballreadytoplay.Failuretodosowillresultinopponent’sfreekickatthespotoftheinfraction.A
playermaynottouchtheballtwicebeforeanotherplayerplaysit.SpecialrulesforCO-EDSOCIALOPEN/25+/30+:Allfree
kicksintheoffensivehalfofthefieldmustbetakenbyafemaleteammember.
PENALTYKICK:Therefereeshallawardapenaltykickforfoulsdeemedsevere,tactical,orblatantinnature,committedby
thedefendingteamwithinitsownpenaltyarea.Playersarenotallowedtostand10feetfromtheDOTnorinthepenaltyarea,
orinterferewiththekickersapproachtotheball.
SUBSTITUTION:Teamsmaysubstituteatanytime.Therearenoguaranteedsubstitutions.Itisalwaysattheteam’sownrisk.
Thisincludeswhentheballis“live”,atfreekicksandkick-ins,goalkicks,cornerkicks,fororagainst.Ifthekickisinyour
favor,pleaseremembera5-secondreplayruleappliesfromwhentheballisdeemedreadytoplay,evenifyouaresubstituting.
Playersmustleavethefieldofplaybeforebeingreplaced.Beingwithinthetouchlinebytheteambenchispermittedunless
eitherplayerbecomesinvolvedinplaywhilebotharesimultaneouslyonthefield.Thegoalkeepermaybesubstitutedatany
time.However,heorshemustwearajerseythatdistinguisheshimfromotherplayersonthefield.Aninjuredplayermust
leavethefieldifthecoach/trainerisrequestedontothefieldbythereferee.Goalkeepermustbereplacedifcoach/traineris
calledonthefielda2ndtime.
NETTING:Thefieldisenclosednotonlytoincreasesafety,butalsotokeepthegamecontinuouslyactive.
Iftheballhitsthenettingonthesideofthefield,akick-inshallbeawarded.Akick-inmustbeplacednomorethan3’fromthe
wall.Iftheballhitsthenettingbehindthegoals(betweencornerlines)agoalkickorcornerkickshallbeawarded.Iftheball
hitsthenettingabovethefieldofplay,afreekickagainsttheoffendingteamfromthepointonthefielddirectlybelowthe
pointofcontactwiththenet.Iftheoffensetakesplacewithinthepenaltyarea,thefreekickshallbetakenfromtheDOT.
THREELINEVIOLATION:Ifaplayerplaystheballoverthreelinesintheairtowardshisopponent’sgoallinewithoutit
touchinganotherplayer,thewall,orrefereeonthefieldofplaybetweenthelines,therefereeshallawardafreekicktothe
opposingteamatthecenterofthefirstlinethattheballcrossed.EXCEPTION:Agoalkeeper,whilestandinginhisteam’s
penaltyarea,maylegallythrowtheballoverallthreelines.Thismayresultina1-pointgoal.
SHIELDING:Aplayermaynotuse2handsagainstthewalltoshieldanopposingplayerfromtheball.Thiswillresultinafree
kicktotheopposingteamfromthespotoftheinfraction.
SLIDETACKLING:SlidetacklingisonlypermittedinU-8thruU-12competitiveleagues.SlidetacklingisNOTpermittedinU13agegroupandolderincludingallAdultCo-ed,Women’s,andMen’sCompetitiveleaguesaswellasALLRecreational
Leagues.Exception:Goalkeepersareallowedtoslide,aslongastheyareinthepenaltyareaandareattemptingtoplaythe
ball.Note:Itisuptothereferee’sdiscretionastowhetheritisaslidingkickortackle.
Heading:AllplayerswhoareregisteredonorparticipatewithanyU-11soryoungerteamareprohibitedfromdeliberately
strikingasoccerballwithanyportionoftheirhead,(a.k.a.heading),duringanygame.IfanU-11soryoungerplayerengages
inheadingasoccerballduringgames,theparent(s)/guardian(s)andtheplayeraccepttheriskand/orperilofdoingso.
Infractionstothisrulewillresultinafreekicktotheopponent.
GOALKEEPERRESTRICTIONS
BACKPASSINTODEFENSIVEZONE:Thegoalkeepermaynotusehis/herhandstocontrolaballthatisplayedfrombeyond
the2-pointlinebyanyteammember.Thisincludesaseriesofpassesbythedefendingplayers.He/shemayonlyusehandsifa
memberoftheopposingteampassestheballintoDefensiveZoneortouchestheballintheDefensiveZone.Afreekickwillbe
awarded,attheDOT,ifpenaltyisassessed.Thewhitelineisconsideredpartofthedefensivezone.
HANDTOHAND:Agoalkeeper,havinghadcontroloftheballinhis/herhandsandhavingreleaseditfromhis/herhandstobe
playedbyselforateammateshallnothandletheballagainuntiltheoppositionhastouchedorplayedtheball.Afreekickis
awardedattheDOT,abovethepenaltybox.Bouncingtheballwithinthepenaltyareaisallowed.
5SECONDDISTRIBUTION:Agoalkeeper,inpossessionoftheballinhis/herhandswithinthepenaltyarea,mustreleasethe
ballwithin5secondsfromhis/herhands.AfreekickisawardedattheDOT.
ILLEGALPROCEDURE:Agoalkeeperwhoreceivestheballoutsidethepenaltyareashallnothandletheballinsidethepenalty
areapriortotheballbeingtouchedbyanotherplayer.Thismeansthekeepercannotbringtheballfromoutsidetheboxback
intotheboxandpickitup.AfreekickisawardedattheDOT.
TIMEPENALTIES:Timepenaltieswillbeassessedforfoulsdeemedassevere,tactical,orblatantinnature.
Allpersons,includingcoaches,ontheteamareconsideredpartofthegame.Offendingplayerswillservetheirowntime
penalties,unlessitistheGoalkeeperinwhichanotherplayerdesignatedbythecoachwillservethepenalty.Refereesmay
howeverrequiretheGoalkeepertoservetheTimePenalty.Timepenaltiescanbegivenagainstoffendingteambenches.The
coachmaychooseanyofhisorherplayersonthefieldtoservetheBenchPenalty.CoedLeagues-Ifafemalereceivesatime
penalty,sheispartofthegameandneednotbereplacedbyanotherfemaleduringthedurationofthepenalty.
Aplayerwillbereleasedfromtimepenaltieswhenpenaltytimehaselapsedortheopposingteamscoresagoal.Ifthereare
anequalnumberofplayersfromeachteamservingpenaltiesandagoalisscored,noplayerisreleasedandnopenaltyis
voided.Timepenaltieswillbecarriedintothesecondhalf.Ifateamscoredagainsthasalessernumberofplayersonthefield
whenthegoalisscored,theplayerwiththeleastamountoftimelefttoserveisreleasedfromthepenaltybox.
BLUECARD(2minutetimepenalty):ABLUECardmaybeassessedatthediscretionoftherefereefor:
UnsportingBehavior,Dissent,PersistentInfringement,DelayingtheRestart,FailuretoRespecttheRequiredDistanceon
restarts,IllegalSubstitution,Boarding,Encroachment,Jumping/Climbingoverthewall,FoulLanguage,SpittingontheField,or
TamperingwiththeClock/Scoreboard.
REDCARD(EJECTIONS5minutetimepenalty):AREDCardwillbeassessedbytheRefereefor:
SeriousFoulPlay,ViolentConduct,SpittingatanyPerson,DenyinganObviousGoalScoringOpportunity,AbusiveLanguage,
Fighting,ReceivingaSecondBlueCard.
Theejectedplayermustleavethefield/bencharea.Theoffendingplayerwillserveaminimumonegamesuspension.
SportsPleXreservestherighttoincreasethelengthofsuspensioniftheoffensewarrantssuchincrease.TheCoachofthe
suspendedplayerisrequiredtomeetwithmanagementfollowingthematchtodeterminethelengthofthesuspensionandis
expectedtoenforcethesuspension.Aredcardwillresultinafull5-minutetimepenaltyagainsttheoffendingteam,
regardlessofthenumberofgoalsscoredbytheopposingteam.Theteamwillplayshorthandedthroughoutthedurationofthe
penalty.SportsPleXreservestherighttosuspendindefinitelyanyplayer,coach,orspectatorwhostrikes,threatensphysically
orverbally,anyparticipantorspectatorattheSportsPleXfacility.TheSportsPleXfacilityisfortheenjoymentofrecreational
sport.
FORFEITS:Forfeitedgameswillhavea4-0result.Howeverifthegamehasbegunandtheforfeitingteamislosing,thescoreat
thetimeofForfeitstands.Noteammayforfeitagameandwintheleague.
Agameshallbeaforfeitif:
**Theclockstartsatscheduledgametime.Ifateamisunabletostartafter2minuteshasexpired;theiropponentisawardeda
goal.At4minutesanothergoalisawarded.Ifnotpreparedby5minutes,gameisforfeited
**Refusingtotakethefieldtoplay.
**Ateamdoesnothaveenoughplayers(twolessthanallocatedamountofplayersrequiredforspecificagegroup)tobeginor
continueagame.
**Ayouthteam(U-18andunder)doesnothaveanadultcoachorotherresponsibleadult,21orolder,presentontheirbench.
