Laptops Project Update
The Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) was born out of the
Government of Kenya’s vision to make sure every pupil is
prepared for today’s digital world. The programme, popularly
known as the laptop project, introduces primary school
children, beginning with those in lower primary, to the use of
digital technology and communications in learning.
Impact
1. Reduced absenteeism by pupils
2. Pupils are more engaged and rapidly consuming content
3. Easier update of learning materials e.g. textbooks
4. Job creation eg technicians and call centre agents
5. Creation of a local digital content industry
6. Reduction in teacher workload
