QUAD SCHOOL SPEAKING CONTEST
The Fraser Valley Canadian & American Reformed Schools invite you to our annual Public
Speaking Contest! Friday, April 29 at 7:30pm in Yarrow Canadian Reformed Church.
(Host School: John Calvin School)
READY SET LEARN/KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
We would like to invite all students born in 2011 and 2012, along with their parents,
to William of Orange Christian School's Ready, Set, Learn! and Kindergarten
Orientation presentation on Tuesday May 3, 2016. Ready, Set, Learn! is funded by the
government of British Columbia through the Ministry of Education, Children and
Family Development and Healthy Living and Sport. Both public and private schools
deliver the program across BC, and William of Orange has chosen to participate in the
2015/2016 school year.
The school doors will open at 6:30pm. The first part of the evening is a drop-in session in which the
preschool children and parents are able to participate in a variety of independent learning activities
(babysitting will be available for younger siblings in the grade 1 room, and for older siblings in the gym).
School staff will be available on an informal basis. At 7:00pm, parents and children will be invited to an
information session. This year, our guest speaker is Liesel Sanday, who is a Christian child psychologist
and currently completing doctoral studies in counselling. She will be speaking about the role of
psychologists and counsellors and how they can work together with school. We hope to finish this
portion of the evening by about 7:30 pm. After this, we will have a brief information session for parents
of children attending kindergarten September 2016.
In addition, parents will be given reference material, children's books, and other goodies purchased
using the money that the school receives for this initiative.

ORANGE AID
Mothers Day Hanging Baskets
Our hanging baskets this year are 12" baskets filled with assorted flowering annuals from Burnaby Lake
Greenhouses! Please have your order forms with payment ($25.00 ea) in by Monday April 25th.
PICK UP DAY IS CHANGED TO MAY 2ND after school instead of April 29th as stated on the forms.
Dutch VS Canadian
This year for Family Fun Night, we would like to try something new for
our auction. Instead of the usual boy/girl baskets the students put
together, we'd like to have grades k-3 put together a Dutch basket filled
with Dutch treats or anything else Dutch. Grades 4-7 will be putting
together a Canadian basket, with of course, all things Canadian! Just
bring your item to school, baskets will be near the office.
The event you have all been waiting for is just around the corner and we have a lot of great auction
items up for bids! Including family attractions, restaurants, gift cards, hotel stay, tickets to events, and
the list just keeps growing. But we would love to add more, do you have a talent to sew, bake, knit or
a handyman service? Do you have connections with a business that would be willing to make a donation
towards our fundraising event? Please let us know so we can add it to the list!
