Milwaukee’s postseason ended with a 92-89 loss to give Toronto a 4-2 series victory.
Milwaukee racked up a postseason team-high 10 blocks in Game 6 on 4/27, including five from Thon Maker
alone. Maker’s five blocks marked the most in a playoff game by a Buck since Joe Smith also blocked five
shots against Detroit in the First Round in 2004.
Giannis Antetokounmpo played a league-high 47 minutes in Game 6 vs. Toronto on 4/27 and finished with a
playoff career-high 34 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Antetokounmpo
became the first Buck since Michael Redd in 2006 to record 30+ points in consecutive playoff games (4/24
at TOR, 4/27 vs. TOR).
Antetokounmpo has tallied playoff career highs in points (34 on 4/27), field goals made (13, twice on 4/15
and 4/27), rebounds (15 on 4/18), assists (7 on 4/18) and minutes played (47) this postseason.
Antetokounmpo and LeBron James were the only players in the postseason’s First Round to average over 20.0
points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
Tony Snell finished the postseason with a 3-point field goal percentage of 51.6, which ranked 10th overall in
the NBA in the First Round. Snell recorded a playoff career-high 19 points (7-of-12 FG) while knocking down a
playoff career-high five 3-pointers (5-of-10) in Game 4 on 4/22.
Bucks rookie Malcolm Brogdon ranked among the league’s best rookies in several categories through the First
Round of the playoffs including points (9.0, 2nd), rebounds (4.3, 2nd), assists (3.5, 1st) and minutes per
game (30.5, 2nd), along with 3-point field goal percentage (.476, 1st).
Khris Middleton snagged a playoff career-high five steals in Game 5 at Toronto on 4/24. He averaged 2.0
steals per game in the first round, which was tied for the sixth-highest average.
Middleton recorded another playoff career high with nine assists in Game 1 at Toronto on 4/15. He also had
zero turnovers in this game, becoming the youngest NBA player since Mike Conley (2013) to have at least nine
assists with zero turnovers in a game.
In the first playoff series of his seven-year NBA career, Greg Monroe averaged 13.2 points (third-highest on the
team), 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
The Bucks defeated the Raptors 104-77 in Game 3 on 4/20. Milwaukee’s 27-point margin of victory was its
largest in a playoff game since 1984 (29 points, 118-89 vs. ATL on 4/26).
The Bucks hit 12 3-pointers against Toronto in Game 3 on 4/20, just one shy of their franchise playoff high
(13 vs. PHI on 6/1/01).
Maker posted 11 points in Game 3 on 4/20, becoming just the third Buck in franchise history, under the age
of 21, to record double-figure scoring in a playoff game (G. Antetokounmpo, B. Jennings).
April 27, 2017
vs. Toronto
L, 89-92 – Milwaukee’s season came to an
end with a 92-89 loss to Toronto in Game 6
of their First Round series. Although the
game ended with the Bucks losing by just
three, the final result was a far cry from the
25-point deficit they faced after the Raptors
DeMarre Carroll hit a 3-pointer with 5:17 left
in the third quarter that put the Raptors up
71-46. With the potential for a season-ending
blowout loss facing Milwaukee, the team
rallied in a big way and cut Toronto’s lead
down to 13 entering the fourth quarter after
three consecutive 3-pointers and a jumper
that helped the Bucks finish the quarter on a
15-3 run. As the fourth quarter began, the
Bucks slowly kept chipping away at the
Raptors’ lead, which had shrunk, point by
point, all the way down to one, 78-77, with
4:06 remaining. It was then when 17-year
NBA veteran Jason Terry drilled a 3-pointer
that put the Bucks on top for the first time
since the 3:53 mark of the first quarter. But,
the Raptors responded with an 11-2 run that
gave them the lead at 89-82 with 33.9
seconds left. Again the Bucks didn’t go away
as they pulled within one, 90-89, with just
over three seconds left before the Raptors
forced a late Milwaukee turnover that ended
the game and sent Toronto on to the Eastern
Conference
Semifinals.
Giannis
Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 34 points
while DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors with
32 points.
April 24, 2017
at Toronto
L, 93-118 – Milwaukee suffered its largest
margin of defeat in the 2017 Playoffs as the
Raptors earned a 118-93 victory in Game 5.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s playoff career-high
30 was not enough to get the Bucks the win.
Only two other Bucks scored in double
figures, with rookie Malcolm Brogdon tallying
a playoff career-high of his own with 19
points, and Greg Monroe adding 11. Norman
Powell scored a playoff career-high 25 points
on 8-of-11 shooting from the field including
4-for-4 from 3-point range to lead the
Raptors.
Despite
trailing
consistently
throughout the game, the Bucks never gave
up hope and continued to make runs to keep
the game in reach. Milwaukee trailed by 11,
80-69, with 2:57 left in the third quarter, but
Toronto proceeded to score 10 straight
points to push the lead to 21 with 43.6
seconds remaining in the frame. The Raptors
held a double-figure lead for the rest of the
contest. Powell scored 12 of his 25 points on
perfect shooting (3-for-3 FG, 4-for-4 FT) in the
third
quarter.
Toronto
outrebounded
Milwaukee 40-23, and the Raptors scored 28
points off of the Bucks’ 15 turnovers in the
game.
