Reberger Named Teacher of the Month The final Teacher of the Month at Rockville High School for the 2013-2014 school year has been named as Mrs. Laura Reberger. Mrs. Reberger and her husband, our band teacher Kevin Reberger, comprise the only husbandwife combo faculty members currently working at RHS. most of the memorable parts of our school years are those fun, silly times when teachers make fools of themselves and we get to laugh and have fun together. I am really looking forward to our end of the year program on May 19th where we are blending an awards program with the old Food Follies. It should be a blast!” Mrs. Reberger currently teaches 8th Grade English, AP Language & Composition, Yearbook, Creative Writing, and Film Literature and is in her 11th year of teaching. She came to Rockville in 2005 and prior to that taught at Union Dugger High School . Mrs. Reberger recalled her most memorable accomplishment as a teacher, “Very few students love writing essays, but learning to do so well is a skill all college-bound students need. I take great pride in hearing from former students who thank me for making them learn how to do synthesis essays or analyze visual rhetoric or properly cite sources. It makes all the hours of grading papers worth it!” Mrs. Reberger attended Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana before going to Indiana State University where she Majored in English. Laura and Kevin have one son Daniel, age 19, who just finished his freshman year at Indiana University where he is a music education major. The Rebergers currently reside in Brazil, Indiana. Not only does Mrs. Reberger teach several different classes at RHS, she serves the school as publicist as well. She also coaches the middle and high school Spell Bowl Teams, English Academic Teams, and the high school Fine Arts Academic Team. Mrs. Reberger's teams have produced numerous state finalists in the Spell Bowl and English academic competitions teams at both the middle and high school levels. Mrs. Reberger belongs to the National Council for the Teachers of English, Indiana State Reading Association, Indiana State Teachers Association where she serves as the North Central Parke Classroom Teachers Association copresident. To add another feather in her cap, Mrs. Reberger recently took over planning for the end of the year awards program. Mrs. Reberger stated, “I love being in charge of the Student Rewards Program and most pep sessions. While students are here to learn, we can make it an enjoyable place to do that. And let's face it, When asked what she does in the summer for fun, Mrs. Reberger responded, “Our son is a member of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. We spend five weeks out of the summer working on the cook truck where we prepare and serve four meals a day to 200 members and staff.” Principal Mahurin said, “Mrs. Reberger is one of many great teachers we have here at Rockville. She works very hard to make our climate the best it can be. She is a very, very good English teacher, but she serves the school well in numerous capacities. We are very fortunate to have her here!” Classroom News • English 10 will finish the year with a career exploration unit, building skills in resume development and business letter writing, culminating in a career presentation. • Pre-AP will read The Great Gatsby and will create a presentation rooted in the culture of the 1920s. • AP Literature will present their end-of-year creative projects on Friday, May 16 in the multipurpose room. • PLTW Medical Interventions students are performing a lab called genetic transformation.
