Sky, Year 4, Spring 1
Learning at home
The following learning has been planned to link with our topic, Sir Francis
Drake. I would like you to complete one activity each fortnight. It is your
choice which activities you complete. One piece of homework will be due
in every other Friday beginning next Friday 18th January. You will need
to complete three pieces of homework before half term.
Terrific Treasure
Great Games
Exciting Writing
The Spanish people
thought of Sir Francis
Drake as a pirate as he
stole treasure from their
ships. Why not make
your own treasure chest
to bring in to
school.
Why not create your very
own board game to teach
people about Sir Francis
Drake’s adventures. You
could base your game on
a known game if this will
help you.
Sir Francis Drake was a
famous Tudor explorer. He
had many adventures in his
lifetime so why not write
your own story about a
pirate adventure.
Amazing Artwork
Marvellous Models
Wicked Word-search
Sometimes you can tell
what historical figures
may have been like by
looking at portraits of
them. Draw your own
portrait of Sir Francis
Drake. What kind of
person do you think he
was?
Sir Francis Drake sailed
around the world on his
ship, The Golden Hind.
Can you make a model of
this famous ship?
Ask your teacher for a
word-search about Sir
Francis Drake to complete.
Alternatively you could
create your very own wordsearch to link with our
topic.
Powerful Posters
Awesome Adventure
Perfect Poems
Create a poster with
information about Sir
Francis Drake. Make it
visually appealing and
interesting to look at so
people will stop and read
it.
You are able to visit The
Golden Hind in Plymouth.
Why not go on a trip with
the family to explore this
exciting piece of history.
Take plenty of
photographs to bring into
school to show us.
Write a poem about Sir
Francis Drake. You could
try to make your poem
rhyme and maybe include a
repeated pattern.
Alternatively you could
create an acrostic poem.
