Agustin de Iturbide-a former loyalist who switched sides (went from fighting the rebels to becoming one and was the leader of the force who captured Morelos!); had 3 goals for Mexico: Mexico would be free from Spain, equality for all Mexicans, Catholicism would be Mexico’s national religion; After independence, he grabbed all leadership powers and declared himself Emperor Augustin I; his reign was short as his people turned against him 4. Erasmo Seguin-a Tejano leader in San Antonio who lost his property after he was forced to flee Texas due to the Gutierrez-Magee Expedition; he later returned to S.A. and served in the city government and as postmaster 5. Jose Antonio Navarro- a Tejano leader in San Antonio who was forced to flee Texas due to the Gutierrez-Magee Expedition 6. Goliad-became new name of La Bahia in 1829 to honor Father Hidalgo (they took out the h and rearranged the remaining letters of his last name) 7. Jacales-one-room huts made of sticks and mud; homes for many less fortunate Tejanos and did not provide much protection from N.A. attacks
