Curiosity, a Literary Essay on The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan Essay by Dylan The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan shows that the main character, Percy, is curious about a lot of things. Most people think that The Lightning Thief is about a boy whose father is Poseidon, and his journey to Los Angeles to enter the Underworld, to retrieve Zeus’ master lightning bolt, but I think that it’s about a boy whose travels. Curiosity causes him to save his mom. Curiosity is a part of my life, and. Percy travels about three-thousand miles across the length of the United States of America, to save his mom. As he travels, curiosity leads him to many adventures along the way. Percy was curious about a number of things. One thing that he was curious about was when he threw the magic pen and it safely returned to his pocket. Another was that he jumped out of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, which was a six-hundred feet drop and into the Mississippi River. He lived. The last piece of evidence is that he was curious when he saw his father, Poseidon, in a Hawaiian shirt and khakis. He thought that gods would be more formal. Percy’s curiosity caused him to be mystified by the scent of burning food. He’s sure that magic changed it. In the book, it said that when Percy smelled it, he didn’t gag. Also, he stopped to smell the very good smell that came from food in a fire. The way that he described it “It smelled like cocoa and brownies and wildflowers and a million other things that shouldn’t go well together but did.” Percy’s curiosity caused him to stop and wonder about the scent of burning food. Lastly, Percy Jackson was showing curiosity when Luke, the person that he thought to be his friend, betrayed him and made a fire, in which a life-threatening scorpion crawled out! They were in the woods drinking Coca Cola, and an evil scorpion crawled out. If Chiron had not found Percy, death would engulf him. Percy got nursed back to health. I think that that was very mean to double-cross someone like that. In The Lightning Thief, I learned that it’s not always bad to be curious and take risks. Curiosity is a part of nature. Literature often shows this trait in many ways. Percy is a heaping pile of curiosity. He travels so far, it’s amazing! Author, Rick Riordan showed how Percy’s curiosity led him on an adventure. Percy is a heaping pile of curiosity. His travels were amazing, because of his curiosity.
