Teaching objectives
In the new complex global scenario, peace is a value that the international community is trying to promote in different ways. International organizations like OSCE, the United Nations, and the European Union are
planning international operations with an innovative key element: the
involvement of civil experts, also from the non-governmental level.
The Summer School Civil Peace Corps and International Cooperation
is willing to understand this process. For this reason, it focuses on peacebuilding and on civil intervention in conflict areas within the framework
of international cooperation, presenting the cutting-edges theories and
practises in these fields.
This School helps to fill the gap on conflict sensitivity rethinking international cooperation and integrating it with the peacebuilding capacities
in the light of the do not harm concept. The School also analyzes the
main ongoing non-governmental operations for peace and how they can
enrich the Institutional level.
The participants have the opportunity to learn and develop their knowledge on the following topics:
• peacebuilding theories and practices;
• relationship among civil intervention in conflict areas, human development, humanitarian intervention, and the promotion of human rights;
• experiences of civil interventions for peace institutionalized or promoted by national governments;
• EU and OSCE cutting-edges practices in the field of peace intervention;
• experiences of civil intervention for peace realized by non-governmental organizations.
