Costa Rican Getaway
This beachside Costa Rican villa is paradise on
earth! Wake up in your room overlooking the
ocean, then go outside onto your private
balcony and see and hear the ocean while
listening to the howler monkeys. Walk outside
for a few seconds and you're on the beach, or
dip into one of the three pools next to the
small, friendly restaurant. Sip a milky Costa
Rican coffee or take a dip in the infinity pool,
while gazing at the hummingbirds, hibiscus
bushes, and monkeys frolicking in treecovered hills. Get some poolside cocktails in
the afternoon while your kids wind down in the
pool just a few feet away. And if so much
relaxation gets old, there's no shortage of
things to do. At a nearby resort, swim out to a
boat for an afternoon of snorkeling. Surfing

lessons for kids and adults are an hour away
at the widest, whitest beach you've ever seen
(and the water's as warm as your bathtub).
Also on tap: rafting, volcanoes, hot springs,
mud baths, an overnight trip to the cloud
forest, swinging bridges, Costa Rica's famous
zip lines, and a river safari.
All of this is close to the well-equipped,
spacious three-bedroom beachside villa in a
secluded cove on the northern Pacific coast of
Costa Rica. It's part of the Bahia Pez Vela
Resort, with three pools, a restaurant, two sea
kayaks and other amenities, including Englishspeaking staff who can arrange for day trips
and help with any issues that might arise. The
villa is a short drive from the Liberia Airport,
and can sleep 10 with two on a couch/air
mattress.

widely available at area restaurants and an
upscale supermarket. Rental car is a necessity
