Program Overview
The Pediatric Certification Program trains Chinese medicine
practitioners (Acupuncture, Tuina, Herbology) in the specialty of
pediatrics. Upon completion, students will have gained in-depth
knowledge in the treatment of children with a wide array of
Chinese medicine methods suitable for children. Students will learn
the application of tuina, acupuncture and herbs for all common
childhood illnesses. The program is taught by a team of highly
experienced teachers. This ensures that students are presented
with practical clinical material and different perspectives on
various forms and approaches in Chinese medicine pediatrics.

Course Modules
Pediatric Tuina Basics (Dr. Elisa Rossi)
Specific topics of physiology, etiology, semiotics, and
pathogenesis in children. Paediatric tuina technique, localization
of related lines and points and a lot of practice! Differentiation
of the main clinical patterns and the treatment strategies (for
common childhood problems such as common cold, cough, fever;
infant abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, poor appetite,
lassitude, night crying.
Pediatric Tuina Advanced (Dr. Elisa Rossi)
Revision of the evaluation and treatment of children, focusing
on complex patterns, such as hyperactivity and attention deficit,
atopic eczema, retarded psycho-physical development. Use of
guasha, moxibustion, cupping, seven-star needle in children.
Discussion of case histories or actual treatments of little patients.
Training in how to teach Tuina sequences to parents.
Pediatric Acupuncture 1 (Dr. Elisa Rossi)
Needling children: How to relate to babies, toddlers and older
children. How to communicate with their parents. How to insert
needles and stimulate qi. How to choose the correct number
of needles and decide on the length of time and frequency of
treatment. How to deal with our worries, fears and doubts.
Differentiation and treatment of the main clinical patterns,
focusing on acupuncture.
Pediatric Acupuncture 2 (Bernhard Nessensohn)
Review of previous course. Sharing and evaluating treatment
experiences. Discussion of the effects of immunizations from the
viewpoint of Chinese medicine and how to help parents in
the decision-making process. Acupuncture strategies for dealing
with potential after-effects (LPF). Revisiting acupuncture
techniques and secondary methods in the treatment of children.
Detailed discussion of the differentiation and treatment of more
childhood diseases.Ample case histories help students in their
clinical application of the learned material.
Pediatric herbology 1 and 2
(Simon Becker and Dr. med. Silvio Schaller)
Overview of the use of Chinese herbs in children. Different forms
of herbal medicine and their application as well as the issue of
dosage. Analysis of basic children’s prescriptions. The treatment
of common childhood diseases with Chinese herbs. The focus lies
on the practical clinical application. For all diseases, case histories
are presented. During the four days, the following childhood
diseases will be discussed: Colic, teething and restless sleep,
digestive disorders, upper respiratory infections, dermatological
disorders, allergies, hyperactiviy and enuresis.
