YANKEE DOODLES: The New York Yankees will play the 10th exhibition game of their spring schedule today against the
Detroit Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Fla.…will be the second of five spring games between the teams
in 2017 (previously a 9-5 Yankees split-squad win on 2/28 at Tampa)…will play 35 total spring games, all but one against
MLB opposition (will play Team Canada on 3/8)…are slated for 17 home games…will play six night games, including five
at home (3/1 vs. Atlanta, 3/2 vs. Baltimore, 3/15 vs. Philadelphia, 3/21 vs. Boston and 3/28 vs. Detroit) and one on the road
(3/31 at Atlanta at SunTrust Park)…each of the Yankees’ home night games will start at 6:35 p.m.…marks the Yankees’ 22nd
consecutive season at Steinbrenner Field (1996-2017), formerly Legends Field, and the 115th season in franchise history.
 
 
 
 
 
 
YESTERDAY’S NEWS: On Friday, the Yankees fell to the Blue Jays, 3-2, at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin…RHP
Luis Severino started and allowed 2ER in 2.1 IP (4H, 1BB, 4K, 1HR)…OF Aaron Judge (2-for-3, 2 singles) was the only Yankee
to record a multi-hit game, raising his spring batting average to .429 (6-for-14)…1B Ji-Man Choi (1-for-2) tied the game with a
two-run single in the ninth…RHP Johnny Barbato tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one baserunner (3K, 1HP) …LHP
Joe Mantiply took the loss, allowing a solo HR in the bottom of the ninth to Ryan McBroom (0.1IP, 1H, 1ER, 1HR).
 
EARLY RISERS: At 7-2 (.777), the Yankees have the best record in the Grapefruit League and the second-best spring record in
all of Major League Baseball, trailing only the 7-0 Los Angeles Angels.
Yankees pitchers have allowed just 52H and 22BB in 79.2IP for a 0.93 WHIP, the lowest among all MLB teams this
spring…their .181 combined batting average against leads all MLB and their 3.16 ERA ranks third…RHP Brian Mitchell
(2GS, 5.0IP, 0H, 1BB, 3K) is the only pitcher in MLB this spring to toss at least 5.0 hitless innings.
Yankees batters lead MLB with 15HR, 57R and a .533 SLG this spring….295 batting average (sixth in MLB) and a .883 OPS

WINNING WAYS: The Yankees secured their 24th consecutive winning season last year (1993-2016)…according to the
Elias Sports Bureau, it marks the second-longest such streak among Major League teams all time, trailing only the Yankees’
run of 39 straight winning seasons from 1926-64…the team also secured its 25th consecutive winning season at home
(went 48-33 at home in 2016), extending its run since 1992…according to Elias, it is the second-longest such streak in
Major League history, trailing only the Yankees’ 47-year home winning streak from 1918-64.
 
 
 
THE SKIPPER: In 2017, Manager Joe Girardi enters his 10th season (2008-present) at the helm of the Yankees…owns a
819-639 (.562) record in nine years with the club, which is the Majors’ best mark over the stretch…according to Elias, is the
only current manager to guide his team to winning records in each of the last nine seasons (2008-16)…is sixth in Yankees
history in managerial wins, trailing only Joe McCarthy (1,460), Joe Torre (1,173), Casey Stengel (1,149), Miller Huggins
(1,067) and Ralph Houk (944)…the Yankees have reached the postseason in five of his nine seasons as manager (2009-12,
‘15), including three AL East Division titles (2009, ‘11-12) and a World Series championship in 2009…was named to the post

GEORGE M. STEINBRENNER FIELD ENHANCEMENTS: During this past offseason, George M. Steinbrenner Field underwent
significant ballpark enhancements, including a new entrance gate in right field by the Dale Mabry Highway overpass and a
two-level team store by the home plate entrance…bullpen clubs on the first and third base lines provide great social gathering
spaces for all fans to enjoy…fans will now be able to walk a complete loop around the entire stadium with newly installed
concourses and seating in the outfield…more shaded areas have been added to the stadium…additional highlights include
a redesigned right field pavilion, loge boxes on the first and third base lines, a group party area on the left field deck and newly
built cabanas in the outfield…fans will also be able to enjoy a redesigned menu courtesy of Legends Hospitality.
Fans attending home spring training Yankees games are strongly encouraged to arrive early and budget an appropriate
amount of time for MLB-mandated metal detection screening via hand-held wanding…fans should also note the already
established bag check policy prohibiting the admission of bags larger than 16” x 16” x 8” into Steinbrenner Field.
Steinbrenner Field gates will open to fans with valid tickets 2 hours prior to every game.

WHAT’S NEW AT YANKEE STADIUM: During this offseason, Yankee Stadium has undergone its first series of major design
enhancements, which are intended to improve the guest experience for fans of all ages…enhancements include seven
new social gathering spaces and additional dynamic food and beverage areas, available to all ticketholders…among the
many highlights, the Sunrun Kids Clubhouse — shaped like a mini-baseball field with a soft artificial surface and Yankeesthemed playground equipment — will be the Stadium’s first-ever children’s zone…Frank’s RedHot Terrace (LF) and the
Toyota Terrace (RF) will be open-air social gathering spaces overlooking the bullpens, featuring specialty food and drink at
drink rail locations which will have power/USB outlets.
