We will make leaflets a bout African animals. Maths We will measure the height o f a baby giraffe. We will calculate the difference between the height o f a baby giraffe and o ur o wn height. We will compare a nd order animals by their weights. We will read data from a table to compare the weather in London and Nairobi. We will read data from a pictogram or bar graph to work o ut which animals were spotted most on a safari tour. We will calculate the costs of the different fruits in Handa’s basket or our own fruit salads. We will find fractions of amounts from the fruits in Handa’s basket. RE What does it m ean to be a Muslim? We will learn who M uhammad is and why he is important to Muslims. We will find out what the Qu’ran is and why is it so special for Muslims. We will use collage skills to create pictures of scenes from Kenya. We will design a nd make a lion model with moving parts. We will make fruit salads using fruits grown in Africa. Geography We will learn to name the continents of the World a nd find Africa o n a map. We will learn to name and find o n a map famous rivers a nd mountains in Africa. We will explain how the weather is different in Africa than in England. We will learn to explain how jobs, houses and school life differ between England a nd Africa. History We will learn what is m eant by discrimination. We will find out who Nelson Mandela was a nd why are people proud of him. We will learn to sequence the events from Nelson Mandela’s life. Science We will name a nd describe animals that you would find living in the wild in Africa. We will sort African a nimals into groups – which are mammals, which lay eggs, which can fly. We will explain how some African animals have adapted to suit their habitat. We will describe how African animals o btain their food, which animals are carnivores and which are herbivores. We will create a food c hain. Music We will enjoy a visit from a n African drumming group a nd have the opportunity to recreate African m usic using Djembe drums. We will listen to and comment o n different pieces of music from Africa. We will learn a nd perform a n African nursery rhyme. Languages We will learn some basic greetings in different African languages. We will continue with weekly Spanish lessons learning to say, read and write the words for different colours. Computing We will create and use sound recordings. We will create and use v ideo recordings. We will learn to use the internet to research African a nimals. We will learn to copy and paste different pictures and photographs of animals. We will create and use databases. We will create and use bar c harts and graphs. PE We will continue to take part in a weekly sports session with ASM Coaching. We will continue to take part in a weekly dance lesson and a weekly drama lesson.
