X:PANDA
x:panda is a multiadjustable seat, delivered in 4 different sizes. Each seat adjusts
in 3 different widths and stepless in seat depth.

The back is dynamic, making it possible for the child to extend and push back
against relatively light resistance and then recover into the desired sitting position.
Furthermore the back angles to make it possible to place the child with either an
open or closed hip angle. When angling the seat and the base it is possible to
create the desired working or resting position.
The many adjustment possibilities and wide range of accessories makes it possible
to adjust the seat to an individual child’s need for comfort and support.
The seat fits on a variety of seat bases from R82, making it suitable for both indoor
and outdoor use.

SAFETY
The x:panda has earned the CE-mark. This certifies that it meets all relevant European
safety requirements.
The durability of this product is 5 years when it is used on a daily basis. Hereafter the product
must be renovated (by R82 personnel) to extend the lifetime.
Remove the CE-mark, when rebuilding the product or when using other than original
R82 spare parts and fittings.
The x:panda is constructed for one user only. Do not place more than one user in
the x:panda.
Never leave your child unattended in this product. Ensure constant supervision by
an adult. Incorrect use of the product, may cause serious injury to the user. Ensure
that the belt is securely fixed to the product before every use.
Any adjustments and addition of accessories which are not described in this manual,
must only be made by authorized R82 personnel. Vests and belts must be mounted
according to the instruction provided with the products.

WARRANTY
R82 offers a 2-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. The warranty
would be adversely affected if the customer’s responsibility of servicing and/or daily maintenance is not carried out according to the guidelines and intervals prescribed by the supplier and/or stated in the manual. For further information, we refer to the R82 homepage/
download. The warranty can only be sustained if the R82 product is in use in the same
country where it was purchased and if the product can be identified by the serial number.
The warranty does not cover accidental damage, including damage caused by misuse or
neglect. The warranty does not extend to non-durable parts, which are subject to normal
wear and tear and need periodic replacement. The warranty is null and void if non-original
R82 parts/accessories are used, or if the product is repaired or altered by anyone other
than an authorised R82 representative or by trained personnel officially recognised by R82
for repair and maintenance of R82 products. R82 reserves the right to inspect the product
being claimed for and the relevant documentation before agreeing to the warranty claim,
and to decide upon whether to replace or repair the defective product. It is the customer’s
responsibility to return the item being claimed for under warranty to the address of purchase.
The warranty is given by R82 or, subsequently, an R82 dealer.

Use the 5 mm Allen key placed beneath the seat unit, to perform all adjustments described
in this manual.

READY FOR USE
The x:panda is delivered so that it takes up
minimum space during transport. Follow the
instructions below to unpack the x:panda.
* Remove the x:panda from the box
* Adjust the back angle (A)

BACK RECLINE
Release the handle (A) to recline the back.

Firmly grab hold and support the back of
the chair before releasing the handle to
prevent sudden recline.
The release handle is equipped with a security
lock (B). Turn the lock to the left and it is activated, turn it to the right and it is deactivated.
Always activate the lock after adjustment.

The back on x:panda has dynamic movement.
Move the small ring (C) up or down to adjust the
range of movement.

When reclining the back, please be carefull
not to get fingers caught between the gas
spring and the seat (D).

The upper arm supports is developed as an
accessory to seats produced later than December 2008, i.e. for seats delivered before
this period, you will need a new set of side
supports in order to mount the upper arm

Height adjustment:
Remove the bolts (A).
Place the supports and remount the bolts.

Loosen the bolts (A).
Fasten at the desired position.
Swing-away function:
Press the red button (B) to release.
The carer should check and oil (synthetic
oil) the swing away parts occationally - at
least every 3 months.

VESTS & BELTS
All vests and belts with 25 mm strap can be
mounted on the seat. We recommend to use the
fixlocks or belt guidances on the chair.
Fixlocks:
Use the fixlock (A) mounted on the chair to fasten and adjust all vests and belts. An extra 40
mm fixlock can be mounted on the size 4 seat
if needed (B).

Belt guidance:
Guide the beltstraps through the prepared slots
(C) in the seat.

To mount vests and belts the correct way, it might
be necessary to mount extra fixlock fittings. The
fittings are mounted on the top of the back and
are able to lift the straps away from the shoulders
of the user.

* Mount the fittings in the lower holes (A) to get
a higher mounting of the straps.
* Mount the fittings in the top holes (B) to get a
lower mounting of the straps.

SEAT WEDGES
Depth adjustment:
Remove the seat cushion and release the wedges from the velcro in the seat.
Flip up the velcro (A) and place the wedges at
the desired depth position. Replace the seat
cushion.

Depending on the desired leg abduction the
seat strap is mounted in one of the three holes
in the seat.
Adjustment:
Flip up the strap in one of the sides and adjust
the length of the strap. Fold down the strap to
fasten with the velcro.

The foam back plate can be adjusted to fit the
gap beneath the back.
* If necessary, cut the foam plate with a knife
to make it fit the gap.
* Place the foam plate on the back.

To mount the seat:
The interface and the footrest bar must be
replaced on the old High-low frames.
Place the seat adapter in the interface and push
it all the way back, until it "clicks" into place.
Lock the red handle (B) to secure the stability
of the seat.

Do not use the first hole it „clicks” into. This
is just the „safety hole” which will „catch”
the seat if the knob accidently should pop
out of its correct hole.

To dismount the seat:
Unlock the red handle (B). Pull out the knob (A),
pull the seat forward, and lift at the same time.

* Lead the enclosed screws though the seat
frame (A) from below. Make sure the seat is

Follow this description to perform a smooth
adjustment of the seat width. Also read the instructions on the next page concerning depth
adjustment.
Dismount the hip supports (A) at both sides.
Dismount the metalplate (B). Remove the 4 bolts
(C) and swing away the back.
Left chair side:
Pull the leg support forward but do not remove
any bolts not described.

Remove the bolt (D).
Remove the bolt (E).
Remount at the desired width position and replace the bolts (D) and (E). Do not fasten the
bolts completely.

Right chair side:
Remove the bolts (D) and (E) at the opposite
side of the chair.

To prevent at mix up of bolts, we recommend to keep the removed bolts
together with the removed part, e.g.
the hip supports.
The carer should check and tighten all
bolts at least every month.

adjustment of the seat depth. Also read the instruction on the previous page concerning width

Remove the two bolts (A) at both sides of the
chair.

Take a firm hold of the backrest.
Remove the two bolts (B).
Remount at the desired depth position and replace and fasten the bolts (A) and (B).
Do not loosen or remove any bolts not
described above.

* Secure the chair to the vehicle, using the 4point strap-type tiedown system. Use either
a hook or a strap in the fitting (A).

Placing the Combi Frame in the vehicle:
1.By use of a 4-point strap system, the frame
is secured in the vehicle. (Follow instructions
from the manufacturer of the vehicle).

and nuts. (Note the placement for the different

3.* Remove the plugs (D) in the side rails.
* Slide the thread block into the side rails.
* Mount the plugs (D) again.
* Place the fitting (B) over the thread block.
* Tighten with the enclosed 6 mm. bolts and
washer through the holes in the thread block.
It is important that the 'legs' on the fitting (B)
is placed in the holes in the side rails.
The fitting (B) can be turned upwards (as on
the drawing) or downwards if you wish.
4.The wheelchair is fastened in the vehicle by
use of a 4-point strap-system. Either a hook
or a strap can be used for fastening the fittings
(A) and (B).

* Mount a hip-belt in the belt fittings in the seat
and fasten the user.
* Use the 3-point belt as shown on drawing to
secure the user. The belt restraints should
be adjusted as tightly as possible, consistent
with user comfort. Further the belt webbing
should not be twisted when in use.

MAINTENANCE
The x:panda cushion is removable and the cover can be washed at max. 40°. The condition of
the foam cushion should be checked at least every six months and replaced if necessary. It is
important to keep the frame clean to maintain the validity of the chair.
The carer should check and oil the swing away parts occationally - at least every 6
months.
Use a dry cloth, on a weekly basis, to wipe off filth and dirt from the wheels. Do not use any
cleaning materials containing chlorine or methylated spirit.
The x:panda has to be checked and tightened by a qualified technician at least every 6
months to avoid failures.
Do not expose the gasspring to pressure, high temperatures or perforation.
Any adjustments and addition of accessories which are not described in this manual, must
only be made by authorized R82 personnel. Vests and belts must be mounted according to
the instruction provided with the products.

The carer should check and refill the tyres for air at least once a month. Air pressure:
