Sugammadex (Bridion) Drug Interaction Counseling for Female Patients You have been given a medication call sugammadex (Bridion) during your procedure or surgery on _________________________________ (insert day). Sugammadex (Bridion) interaction with hormonal contraceptives (including but not limited to oral birth control pills (“the pill”), injectable Depo Provera, Nuvaring, and patch) and may make this method of contraception (birth control) less effective for the next 7 days. If you are not sure if you are taking an oral hormonal contraceptive, check with a doctor or pharmacist. If you use hormonal contraceptives as your method of birth control, you must use an additional, NON-HORMONAL method of contraception (birth control) for the next 7 days following sugammadex (Bridion) administration. You may continue taking your hormonal contraception (birth control) as prescribed by your doctor; but use an additional NON-HORMONAL method of contraception for the next 7 days from the date of surgery listed above. NON-HORMONAL methods of contraception (birth control) include: Male condom and spermicide Female condom and spermicide Female diaphragm Female cervical sponge Your male partner is sterilized (vasectomy) An alternative to NON-HORMONAL contraception (birth control) is not having sexual intercourse or engaging in any sexual activity that may result in pregnancy for the 7 days after your procedure date.
