L.K.Bennett London and Women for Women International announce partnership to celebrate International Women’s Day London 2nd March 2015 - British accessible luxury brand L.K.Bennett and prestigious charity Women for Women International are delighted to announce a new partnership in celebration of the forthcoming International Women’s Day. L.K.Bennett will be hosting a series of events in its stores across the UK on Thursday 5th March, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, with 10% of all UK sales proceeds on the night to being donated to this incredible charity. The money raised will support their ongoing work helping women facing violence, marginalisation, and poverty as a result of war and conflict. The evening also importantly will offer guests the opportunity to learn about the important work done by the charity and the knowledge that by investing in their new season wardrobe they are at the same time investing in some of the world’s most socially excluded women, helping them to transform their own lives, and those of their families and communities. Those unable to attend the event can still make a difference as L.K.Bennett will be donating 10% of all UK store and online sales proceeds from Thursday 5th March until the end of International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March. “I am proud that L.K.Bennett is supporting Women for Women International to commemorate International Women’s Day, in what is an important charitable collaboration for the brand. The majority of our employees and customers are women and we hope they will join us and Women for Women in supporting the growing movement of women empowering other women across the globe.” Robert Bensoussan, CEO L.K.Bennett “I am thrilled that L.K. Bennett has chosen to support Women for Women International for International Women’s Day – a day that connects women around the world in celebration and support. I guess that is what I love most about that day - women come together, they inspire each other and they realise their power to change the world, one woman at a time. At Women for Women International, we believe that women are stronger when they share ideas and resources, invest in business together, and help each other find solutions to common challenges. By shopping at L.K. Bennett this International Women’s Day, you can help us make a real difference in the lives of women survivors of war.” Brita Fernandez Schmidt, Executive Director, Women for Women International - UK For further information please contact: Nick Flynn, PR & Marketing Manager, L.K.Bennett - nick.flynn@lkbennett.com +44 (0)20 7637 6727 Jenny Rose, PR & Communications, Women for Women - jrose@womenforwomen.org About L.K.Bennett: L.K.Bennett is a British accessible luxury brand and shoe specialist that reflects its unmistakable heritage; a modern blend of femininity, colour and style. Founded by Linda Bennett in London in 1990 and renowned for her signature kitten heel shoes favoured by celebrities and stylish women alike, L.K.Bennett rapidly became the ultimate destination for feminine footwear. Ready-to-wear collections were introduced in 1998 establishing the company as a leading fashion house. July 2008 saw an important step in L.K.Bennett’s expansion as Robert Bensoussan, co-founder of Sirius Equity, together with Phoenix Equity Partners invested in the brand as majority shareholders. A design-driven label with a luxury twist, the distinctive handwriting stays strong thanks to a dedicated in-house design team, creating looks that appeal to an expanding customer base. The Group has significant retail and wholesale presence in key international markets including the US, Europe and the Middle East and is now operating through 135 branded locations around the world of which 88 are in the UK. About Women for Women International Since 1993, Women for Women International have supported over 420,000 of the most sociallyexcluded women survivors of war in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kosovo; and our work has never been more pressing than it is today. With the rise of extremist groups like ISIS and Boko Haram, the women that we serve live in some of the world’s most dangerous places. Where extremism and conflict take root, the livelihoods, freedoms, and security of individuals suffer – and it is women and children who bear the brunt. Yet when given the tools, resources and knowledge to access livelihoods and protect their rights, we know that women can literally transform their families, communities – and ultimately their nations. This is where we help. Through our 12-month programme, women learn about their rights, as well as key life skills (such as health, managing their finances, how to build social networks for business and emotional support). They also learn vocational and business skills to access livelihoods and break free from poverty. Communities are not, of course, made up of just women and because the whole community benefits when everyone in the community is involved, we work hard at Women for Women International to engage men in our work. Men are powerful advocates for women’s empowerment, breaking down prejudices and practices which prevent women from reaching their potential. Sponsor a woman through the one-year programme for £22 per month and help us change the world one woman at a time.
