need to make a home.

ou want your wedding day to be joyful and free of complications. Preparing early will help to ensure that the
event is perfect for you and your guests. Thus,
3–6 months before,
Select the date, place, and time, and see the minister.
Discuss the wedding budget, and decide on the
reception.
Consider ordering the wedding cake or organize
making your own.
Organize the wedding cars, whether hired or borrowed
from friends and family.
Book a photographer or videographer and musicians.
Choose bouquets, boutonnières, and other floral
accents with the help of a florist.
Decide on your honeymoon, and talk to the travel agent
about reservations.
É 8–10 weeks before,

G Order your wedding stationery: invitations, order of
service sheets, place cards, cake boxes, and table
napkins.
G Discuss catering arrangements, with either professional
caterers or friends and family who are helping you.
G Select wedding ring or rings.
G Find out about inoculations if you are traveling abroad,
and arrange any visas.
G Order a new passport in your married name or check
that the existing one is in order.
G Arrange going-away and honeymoon outfits.
É 6 weeks before,
G Address and post wedding invitations.
G Check that the groom and his attendants have
organized the ring, their clothes, and his passport.
G Arrange a date for the wedding rehearsal.
G Visit the beauty salon with your headdress, and discuss
hairstyle ideas for the wedding day. Try the style at least
once beforehand.
G Consider taking a makeup lesson and practice using the
cosmetics; it will give you extra confidence on your
wedding day.
G Plan the seating for the reception. For the ceremony, you
need to determine seating for only the immediate family.
É 2 weeks before,
G Confirm the number of guests with the caterer, and
finalize seating plans.
G Time the journey to the church on the same day of the
week and the same time of the day as your wedding date.
G Confirm arrangements with the florist, photographer, and
drivers.
G Try on your wedding dress with all the accessories—
foundations, headdress, veil, shoes—and make adjustments as needed.
G Organize the wedding stationery.
G Review your honeymoon outfits and set them aside for
packing. Be sure to include camera and film as well as
sun screen if you will be traveling to a sunny climate.
