Horatio Alger Scholarship Deadline: October 25, 2016 For high school Seniors graduating in 2017 and planning to enter college in Fall 2017 to pursue a bachelor’s degree (students may start at a 2-year institution and then transfer to a 4-year college). Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be a U.S. citizen, be involved in extra-curricular and community service activities, have household earnings of $55,000 or less, and display perseverance in overcoming adversity. National Security Agency—Stokes Educational Scholarship Program Deadline: Postmarked before October 31, 2016 Eligibility: High school senior planning to major in Computer science, Computer or Electrical Engineering. Must be a U.S. citizen and have demonstrated leadership abilities. Must achieve a minimum SAT score of 1200 (600 Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, 600 Math) or ACT of 25; 3.0 GPA. With this program, the student will attend college full time tuition and mandatory fees covered up to $30,000/year) then work during the summer at NSA (National Security Agency) for 12 weeks in areas related to his/her course of study. Students acquire real-world experience and receive a salary year round. Upon graduation from college you will work for the NSA in your field of study. S. residents and have demonstrated exemplary community service. State honorees will receive $1,000 and an all-expensepaid trip with a parent to Washington, D.C. Deadline: December 30, 2016 Eligibility: A Ventura county high school senior who is a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National with exceptional Leadership potential, has a good record of community service and is planning to attend a 2 or 4 year university majoring in operations, purchasing or a business career. AXA Achievement Scholarship Deadline: (Until 10,000 applications are received or 11:59 pm on December 15, 2016, whichever comes first. Eligibility: High school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2017-2018 academic year. Be United States citizens or legal residents living or claiming residency in one of the 50 united states, Washington, D.C. or Puerto Rico. Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities. As stated in the scholarship announcement, because reducing risk is woven into the fabric of the company, special consideration is given to achievement that empower society to mitigate risk through education and /or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, safety and/or emergency preparedness.
