1. M.4 Students should have mastered all material up to Chapter4 in the
textbook. The exam dose not focus on topics such as molecular shape
and structure. Students may be asked to draw a chemical structure or
balance an equation in the process of answering a bigger question.
2.The exam covers Chapter 5, Energetic. The exam includes problems
about energy, heat and temperature, endothermic and exothermic
reactions, and system and surroundings. There are questions concerned
with energy changes and direction of change, and the calculation of
enthalpy changes with particular emphasis on calculating heats of
reaction from temperature changes.

3. Student should ensure that given a set of data, they can construct a
graph and answer question based on analysis of the graph. This type of
activity is described in Section 5.2 in the textbook; there was a lab,
report, add homework assignment based on a similar exercise. Students
are directed to pages 103-4 in the small book, or to pages 166-168 in
the big book for guidance in this area.
4.The exam includes a bond enthalpy activity. This topic is described
starting on page 109 (small book) and page 171 (big book).
