The UPV is more than 40 years old,
but some of its centres are even older: more than 100 years old.
The UPV’s initial germ was the creation of the Instituto Politécnico Superior de Valencia
in the 1968-1969 academic year.

The University comprises three fully equipped campuses:
Vera (in the city of València), Alcoi and Gandia.
In them, a total of 9 schools, 2 faculties and 2 higher polytechnic schools can be found.

Studies
40 degrees and double degrees, almost 80 master's and double
master’s degrees, and almost 30 doctorates, all meeting demanding quality
standards, are taught at the UPV.

Regulated professions
Regulated professions are those for the practice of which a particular requirement –
generally, being in possession of a specific academic degree– is mandated by law.
When students obtain such a degree, they become entitled to work in a specific field,
performing activities which are exclusive to those professions.
At present, there are two kinds of university degrees which confer such an entitlement:
bachelor’s degrees and master's degrees.

Regulated professions requiring a master’s degree
In the 2014-2015 academic year, those master’s studies that qualify those who complete
them (i.e., qualifying master’s studies) for practising the regulated professions of
engineering and architecture have begun to be taught at the UPV.
Qualifying master’s degrees have been designed on the basis of a specific degree
of
reference, and together with it they constitute an integrated study programme.

Doctoral School
The UPV’s Doctoral School is the university structure responsible, from an academic and
administrative point of view, for the UPV’s doctoral studies.
It is therefore responsible for the training of researchers carrying out their research
activities with the aim of obtaining a PhD degree.

Classes are given in Spanish,
Valencian and English.
More than 300 subjects are taught in English.

programmes accredited by the American agency
ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), which recognizes them
as equivalent to the master's studies taught in the USA in their respective disciplines.
