WR 097 Calandra Minor Paper 2: Outline of an Assigned Reading Purpose: Outlining will help you both as a reader and as a writer. Its main purpose is to help you organize ideas whether they are your own ideas or another author’s ideas. For this assignment, your goal is to make a map of an assigned reading and show the hierarchy of its core ideas. Assignment: Create an outline that shows the hierarchy of the ideas in one of the following assigned readings from The Norton Sampler. ● Barry: “The Sanctuary of School” (NS: 177183) ● Mebane: “The Back of the Bus” (NS: 167176) Guidelines: Your outline should clearly show the hierarchy of the author’s ideas (main ideas, details, and examples). You should use complete sentences and aim for 200250 words. Please use the sample outline of Beller’s essay as a guide for both formatting and content, and don’t forget to include a header (just like with your Basic Summary).
