Dear Parents, As we complete the second week of school, we are using good work habits, enjoying time with our friends, and adjusting to the school routine. As the homework begins to come home, please set a time at home with/for your child, or perhaps read a book together during this quiet study time. Are you hungry? We are excited to begin our restaurant nights at Dairy Queen on Tuesday Sept. 6th from 5-8:00 pm. Along with a percentage of sales, they are also allowing us to use SCRIP for our purchases. Make sure to get yours early! The John Paul II magazine drive begins on September 7 with a kick-off assembly. This is a major fundraiser for our school and very important to our school budget. Our Education Committee and John Paul II School want to continue to keep our tuition at an affordable rate for our families. Fundraisers such as the Bids for Kids, School Carnival, and the magazine drive are so important in meeting the school expenses and are also used to provide a few extras for our staff and students. Our students will be bringing home their magazine packets on Wednesday, Sept. 7th. Please read the directions and information in the packet very carefully. We will not be able to use any coupons or reduced rates for magazines, so the actual price in the booklet is the price we have to charge. We strongly encourage our school families to contact their family members, close friends and relatives to see if they are interested in purchasing or renewing a magazine subscription. Due to safety precautions, we DO NOT want our students to go “door to door” selling these magazines. Thanks so much for your continued support of this major fundraiser for our school. Our first PTO meeting will be on Thursday, Sept. 8th at 7:00 pm in the faculty lounge in the east hall of the school. We would like to get as many parents as possible to attend these meetings and have an input in activities taking place throughout the year. This is also one way to begin collecting volunteer parent hours. On September 4, 2016, Pope Francis will canonize Mother Teresa as a saint of the Roman Catholic Church. Her canonization is an important event for Catholics and all people around the world. She is known to all for her work with the poorest of the poor throughout the world. What a great message she shared for all of us. Thank-you for sharing your children with us – we love the time we spend teaching, listening, and learning from them. There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 5 for Labor Day. Calendar for September 5 – 9: Monday, Sept. 5 No School Tuesday, Sept. 6 Dairy Queen Night from 5-8:00 pm Wednesday, Sept. 7 School Mass @ 9:00 am; Magazine Sales begin Thursday, Sept. 8 Adoration; PTO Meeting @ 7:00 pm in the faculty lounge Friday, Sept. 9 Have a great week!
