The campsite is situated alongside the event base, which is located at Home Bay on the eastern side of Motutapu Island. If you did not book the campsite when you registered for the event and you would like to book a campsite now, simply access your registration through your confirmation email and add the camping item. If you’re having any challenges, please email Susan. If you’re intending to camp on Friday night there will be a Fullers ferry sailing from Auckland to Home Bay (Event Base), Motutapu via Devonport at 7.00pm (from Pier 2, Fullers Terminal in Auckland City via Devonport 10 minute later), there is only one sailing on the Friday night. Please ensure your tents and camping gear are easily accessible and CLEAN as DOC will need to inspect these before you get on the ferry. There will also be a Fullers ferry sailing on Sunday at 12.00noon, which will take campers from Home Bay, Motutapu back to Auckland City via Devonport. Your Fullers ferry wristband will give you access to this ferry. An important note from DOC re camping on Motutapu Island Home Bay campground is a fantastic spot to camp anytime of the year. Please remember that camping gear heightens the risk of potential stowaway pests as it’s often stored away over winter. As Motutapu and Rangitoto are both pest-free, make sure you thoroughly check all your gear, especially your camping gear for rats, mice, Argentine ants and rainbow skinks. These pests have the potential to reverse all the good work being done on these two protected islands. Please take a few simple biosecurity precautions outlined here. For more information including what faculties are on the island, please see here. Please note the follow environmental restrictions on Motutapu and Rangitoto Islands for the Partners Life DUAL event; No wood or coal fires are allowed anywhere on the island Water is limited, please use sparingly Camping stoves are permitted in the camping area, please ensure you keep the flame away from dry grass, and that you have a water supply to put out any fire that could potentially start This is a smoke free event Please be extremely careful with any open flame and hot elements, Motutapu Island is extremely dry and we’d hate to ruin the natural restored environment that the Department of Conservation and Motutapu Restoration Trust have worked so hard to develop. *Race Information Event Briefing & Start Times All events will start and finish at Home Bay, Motutapu Island; Off-Road Triathlon - event briefing, 7.40am, race start 8.00am 42.2km Marathon - event briefing, 8.10am, race start 8.30am 42km MTB - event briefing, 8.40am, race start 9.00am 26km MTB - event briefing, 9.10am, race start 9.30am 21.1km Half Marathon - event briefing, 9.40am, race start 10.00am 10km run / walk - event briefing, 10.10am, race start 10.30am 6km run / walk - event briefing, 10.55am, race start 11.15am *Triathlon event information The swim leg of the off-road triathlon will be a beach start at Home Bay, and a two lap swim of the 500m course; with all swimmers exiting the water at the 500m point and running up the beach and around a cone before heading back into the water for the final lap.
