Barre Workout
Barre Workout is a ballet-inspired workout
that will exercise every muscle group of
your body. We’ll begin with simple, graceful
warm-up movements to connect body and
breath. Upper body exercises follow with
high repetitions and light weights (or none)
to tone your arms, shoulders, chest and
upper back. Barre exercises will strengthen,
tone and lift the lower body. The class ends
with Pilates-style core exercises. The result:
long, lean muscles and a strong core! Do
not eat for two hours before class. Please
bring a mat, towel, water and a pair of one

Real Estate Practice
A real estate license doesn’t come with
an operating manual, so this course
was created to talk about what it really
takes to succeed in the business. Real
Estate Practice discusses getting started,
marketing, time management, listings,
contracts, agency, disclosures, escrow,
finance, completing transactions, and
working with buyers and sellers. This is
the second course required to obtain a
California Real Estate License. Class fee
includes textbook, quizzes, final exam and
course certificate.
Start the new year in the right direction by
creating a collage of elements you would
like to see happen in your life. We’ll spend
time fashioning a board you can hang
up in your office or other special room
for inspiration. Time will be spent going
through words and images, putting the
pieces together and getting feedback from
other students. Bring magazines, scissors
and a glue stick with you to class.

Uniform Complaint Procedure
Uniform Complaint Procedures were developed and established to handle complaints against the District that involve specific
educational programs which are conducted with state or federal funds or that regard charges that the District has unlawfully
discriminated against someone. (Procedures established in accordance with State law, Title 5, California Code of Regulations,
Sections 4600-4671)
These same complaint procedures may be used to file complaints against the District which allege unlawful discrimination under
the following federal laws: Section 504 or the Americans with Disabilities Act (discrimination based on physical or mental disability);
Title IX (discrimination based on gender, including sexual harassment); and Title VI (discrimination based on race, color, or national
origin). Discrimination complaints must be filed within six months of last occurrence or when knowledge was first obtained.
What Programs are Covered?
These complaint procedures cover the following educational programs:
1.
Adult Basic Education
2.
Federal Aid Programs
3.
Migrant Education
4.
Vocational Education
5.
Child Care Development
6.
Child Nutrition
7.
Special Education
8.
Any other program benefiting from State or federal funds in which occurs discrimination based on ethnicity, ancestry,
religion, age, gender (including sexual harassment), sexual orientation, color, physical or mental disability, medical
condition, or political belief or affiliation.
How to Submit a Complaint
Any person, organization, or public agency concerned about a violation of state or federal regulations governing an education
program listed on this page is to submit a written complaint to:
Kathleen Porter, Executive Director
Career, Technical and Adult Education
13626 Twin Peaks Road
Poway, CA 92064
This office will provide assistance to those who cannot complete a written complaint.
The District assures confidentiality of the facts to the maximum extent possible. The District prohibits retaliation against anyone
who files a complaint or anyone who participates in the complaint investigation process.
Complainants are further advised that civil law remedies, including, but not limited to, injunctions, restraining orders, or other
orders, may also be available to them.
Only complaints with the original signature will be accepted. The sixty-day time line shall begin when the complaint is received.
How a Complaint is Investigated and Answered
Each complaint is investigated by the appropriate District office or division or local district office which must do the following within
sixty days:
Provide an opportunity for the person or organization complaining and District personnel to present information related to the
complaint.
Obtain specific information from other persons familiar with events and locations related to the complaint.
Review related documents.
Prepare a written report (in English and in the language of the complainant) on findings and recommended solutions.
Notify the person or organization of appeal procedures.
Complaints about special education programs and services may also be referred by the District or the complainant may file the
complaint with the California Department of Education, Special Education Division. To file a special education complaint directly
with the California Department of Education (CDE), you may write to the CDE at the address listed under the section entitled “How
to Appeal” in this brochure.
How to Appeal
Persons or organizations disagreeing with the local District, school, or office decision have fifteen days after receipt of the
decisions to file an appeal. The appeal must be in writing and must include a copy of the original complaint, as well as a copy of
the local site decision provided to them.
If the original complaint involved one of the educational programs (listed 1–8) above, the appeal should be sent to:
State of California
Department of Education
State Superintendent of Public Instruction
P.O. Box 944272
Sacramento, CA 94244-2710
If the original complaint involved discrimination under Section 504, the ADA, Title IX, or Title VI, and the decision was provided by a
local District, School, or office, the appeal may be directed to:
Tracy Hogarth
Assistant Superintendent
Personnel Support Services
Poway Unified School District
15250 Avenue of Science
San Diego, CA 92128
Appeals of local site decisions involving Title IX or Title VI may also be directed to the Department of Education (see address
above) for resolution.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend classes?
May I obtain a typing certificate from
Poway Adult School?
Adult Education classes are open to persons 18

only by calling 858-668-4024. Bring a photo I.D.
Typing test fee is $15.00; typing certificates are $5.00
per certificate (cash only).
How do I register for a class?
Enrollments are accepted in the order they are
received. Early registration is strongly advised as
some classes reach their maximum limits quickly. We
do not allow auditing of classes. Registrations may
be accepted on the day of the class. There are a few
ways to register.
Online: Go to www.powayadultschool.com

a spam filter on your ISP and you do not receive an
e-mail confirmation, you’ll need to review your junk
mail box to recover our message.
Although we hope not to, Poway Adult School
reserves the right to cancel scheduled classes.
The most common reason for a class cancellation
is that the enrollment for the class is low. Class
locations, schedules, fees and instructors may
also be changed when necessary. In the event of a
course cancellation, Poway Adult School will provide
registered students with refunds.
The decision to cancel or close a class is made a few
days in advance. If you show up expecting to register
on the day a class starts, you may be disappointed.
Return check charge:

www.powayadultschool.com under the Student
Resources section.
What about refunds and other policies?
We value your patronage! If you are not fully satisfied
with your course, you may request a refund or
a voucher to apply toward a future course. For
Cooking and Art classes, students who choose to
drop a class must do so at least 2 business days
prior to the class start in order to receive a full
refund. Cancellations within two business days of the
class start will be eligible for a refund, less the cost
of the course materials (groceries).
