At Baldrochwood, Colmonell, John M'Neillie, aged 90, the oldest native of the parish. He was blind for the
last 30 years. - A few weeks ago another native of the parish, also aged 90, died, who had been blind for
the greater part of his life.

DEATHS
Here, at Fisher Street, on the 27th inst., Elizabeth Reid, relict of Thomas Thorburn, at the advanced age of
109 years. She bore her long confinement with Christian fortitude and resignation, and enjoyed the use of
her faculties to the last. She died trusting in Jesus as her all and in all.
At Glenhoul, parish of Old Luce, on the 23d inst., Mr Alexander M'Culloch, farmer there, in the 63d year of
his age, after a protracted confinement, which he bore with Christian patience and resignation. He was
equalled by few for true and unassuming benevolence. During the late storm he caused to be sent to the
village of Glenluce a load of oatmeal to be distributed gratis among poor outdoor labourers.
At Nithsdale, New South Wales, on the 26th July last, in his seventh year, Francis, third son of Mr H.
Wallace, formerly of Dumfries.
At York on the 13th inst., after a long and painful illness, aged 68, Mrs Mary Bruce, relict of the late
William Bruce, farmer, Wigtown, Galloway.
At Ringford, Tongland, on Wednesday week after a short illness, Mr John Bryce, weaver, aged 89.
At Kirkcudbright, on the 15th instant, Janet, daughter of the late Thomas Hardie, D. D. Professor of Church

At Queen Street, here, on the morning of the 7th inst., after a few hours illness, Elizabeth Stafford, aged 21.
At Glenluce, on the 5th instant, Mrs Whyte, relect of Thomas Whyte, Balyett. She was very much respected
by all who knew her for her kind and charitable disposition, which she cherished to the last. A large circle
lament her departure, and none more so than the poor of Glenluce.
At Glenluce, on the same day, David M'Kie, late miller, Milton mill, Old Luce, at the advanced age of 92
years. He was an example to millers for honesty and candour.
At Cairnbrock, Kirkcolm, on the 7th inst., Helen M'Dowall, aged 86 years, relict of John Rennie, farmer in
Craighandy, Kirkcolm.
At Wigtown, on the 5th inst., Susan Fraser, relict of Mr Peter M'Kie, formerly in Officer's Croft, Glenluce.

At Ballgreen, Stranraer, on the 4th inst., Mrs Margaret M'Whinnie, spouse of the late William Mactier Esq.,
of Ballgreen - a person much and justly regretted by her friends and acquaintances, as an affectionate
friend, a kind neighbour and a sincere Christian. She bore her long and severe suffering with great
patience and resignation to the will of God, being possessed of a strong and well regulated mind which
she had well stored with pages of the book of God, the promises of which were the only food that
nourished her in her last illness, and the staff upon which she leaned in going down to the dark valley of
the shaddow of death.
Here, on the 25th ult., Mr Samuel Prince, aged 22 years. Deceased was assistant teacher in the Church
School, Stranraer, and was a young man of promising abilities; but fever has cut him off in his bloom,
greatly lamented by the rising generation under his charge, and justly regretted by the community at
large.

At Kirkcowan Manse, on the 6th instant, the Rev. Dr. Anthony Stewart, aged 80. For a very long period Dr
Stewart held office in the Church of Scotland, having been ordained to the pastoral charge of the parish of
Newluce in 1792. From that parish he was removed to Kirkcowan in 1800, where, during the remainder
of his valuable existence, he faithfully broke to his people the bread of life, and ministered in every other
respect to their welfare. He was a graduate in Medicine of the University of Edinburgh, and ever
generously placed his medical skill, which was reckoned sound and acute, at the call of his parishioners
and neighbours. Having thus long flourished in the courts of God's house, he was gathered into his
heavenly Father's garner, "a shock of corn fully ripe." - Corres.

He went to bed in apparent good health the previous evening and was found dead in the morning.
At Brechin, on the 4th inst., the Rev. James Goodwin, minister of the United Presbyerian Congregation,
High street, Brechin, in the 15th year of his ministry. The awfully sudden death of this excellent and
esteemed servant of the Lord, has filled the people of his charge, and all who knew him, with deep grief.
He discharged the duties of the pulpit, with his usual ability, on the day he died, but felt indisposed on his
way home from the sanctuary, and in less than thirty minutes
from the time he reached his own house, breathed his last. "Blessed are those servants whom the Lord,
when he cometh, shall find watching."

practised his arduous profession, will severely feel his loss. His relatives and intimate acquaintances are
deprived of a much attached friend: and all classes, but especially the poor, will regret him as one whose
benevolence they often experienced.

At Glenluce, on the 8th inst., Mr Andrew Douglas, student of divinity, aged 20 years. He was a young man
of superior abilities, of great integrity, and promised fair to become one of the church's brightest
ornaments. His death is and will be deeply lamented by every person who was acquainted with him.
At Port William, on the 8th inst., Jessie M'Carmick, youngest daughter of Mr James M'Carmick, surgeon.
At No. 7. Melville Street, Tradeston, Glasgow, on the 6th inst., Mr Samuel Reid, aged 47, a native of
Stoneykirk.

Mr Thomas Elliot, farmer there, who is left with six children, all very young, to mourn the bereavement.

At his residence, King Street, Toronto, on the morning of Monday, the 27th September, Mr John Thomson,
merchant, of that city, son of the late Mr William Thomson, Bushabiel, Urr, Galloway. Mr Thomson was an
excellent man, and held in high estimation by a wide circle of acquaintances. His remains were attended
