DESCRIPTION
PRONAL, the world leader in the manufacture of products based upon elastomer-coated fabrics offers the STP flexible
separator to the electrical transformer market. The function of the STP separator is to line inside of the conservator
tank in transformers, allowing for changes in oil volume, while protecting the oil from any type of contamination or
external corrosive agents, such as air, ozone, nitrogen, humidity, etc.
STP separators are made from an elastomer-coated fabric, vulcanized at high temperature in a vacuum: fabric
reinforcement made of a high resistance polyamide thread, external coating designed to provide very high resistance
to transformer oil, internal protection resistant to nitrogen and atmospheric agents including ozone.
It offers a large range of elastomers to meet specific applications and a wide range of shapes and sizes to fit every
need. Designs exit to fit cylindrical, elliptical and rectangular conservator tanks.
The STP separator offers many advantages:
- Elimination of the air/oil contact, and of condensation
- Vulcanized-in flange which precludes the possibility of leakage
- Elimination of oxidation and hydrolysis that might stem from air contact
- Interior fabric reinforcement at points of contact with level indicator, to preclude the possibility of puncture
- Excellent impermeability to oil/gases and water vapour, through the use of a vulcanised-in barrier material
- Quick-Response Manufacturing to meet customer designs
- Large range of flanges to meet any requirement

FLANGE ASSEMBLY OF TYPE B1 FLANGE
The connection flange type B1 is shown on the
conservator (several other models available).
The flange is secured to the vulcanized insert.
This insert is fully embedded by vulcanizing into
the STP material thus ensuring that the unit is
fully sealed.
STP ATTACHMENT LUGS
Typically, the STPs are fitted with 2 attachment
lugs, located in a precisely-defined position. Special
positions or additional lugs are available upon
request.

DIMENSIONS
The dimensions of the STP separator and its attachment lugs are defined using the dimensions of the
conservator tank itself.
As an example, please find below several models of STP separators manufactured for cylindrical conservators
with flat ends.
