From November 2 – 8, all Lodges, Chapters and Moose Legions are asked to develop a series of activities
that will highlight the positive areas of the Moose and reinforce the benefits of membership.
Activities across the Fraternity will include Heart of the Community projects, member dinners, fraternal
nights, lodge improvement efforts, expired member phone-a-thons, and other programs developed locally.
“The inaugural Member Retention Week helped inspire a number of our lodges and chapters to become
more active in their retention activities not only during this brief time
span, but throughout the year,” said Kim Thompson, assistant director of
Retention and Recognition for the Membership Department. “This week
really helped focus our attention on retention, although I would encourage our lodges and chapters to continue to use the Expired Member Kits,
which are sent each month via email, in order to aide in retaining expired
members on a regular basis.”

Governor's News
Sr. Regents Talk
Hello everyone!
Another month is gone and
we are having a very good year.
We want to say congratulaЖџons to our lodge for making the
Moose Magazine with a picture of
our 4th of July float and for our
Guardians.
A huge THANK-YOU to everyone who helped make our Higher Degree Banquet a
great success. Gary Brenner, Shorty Cook, Chris Rice,
Marilyn Post, Kathy Takesheta, and her son's Pete and
Keith, Jean Keegan, Joan Quigley, Hazen and Marge Bernard. And a very special shout out for our Chef Rachel
Hedeen. Again thank you all very much. We also want to
thank our bartenders who do a great job.
Look for the soup specials every Sunday aЕЊernoon.
Lets make this month an even beЖ©er month.
November is here and with
it brings thoughts of Holidays and
family. Speaking of Holidays and
family the WOTM officers will be
hosЖџng a Thanksgiving dinner on
November 23rd. Come and enjoy a
variety of dishes made by some of
the best cooks around.
The Higher Degree banquet
was a huge success as well as the
kid’s Halloween party. Thanks to all that made it happen.
We have some great volunteers and they all work so
hard and deserve our thanks, without them many projects that we do would not be possible.
Just a reminder our dues will be, per InternaЖџonal,
increasing on January 1, 2015. You may want to renew
yours before they do. They will be going from $25.00 to
$30.00.
November 11th is Veterans Day. Please take a moment from your busy lives to remember our men and
women in the military that have served and are serving
our country. Many have laid down their lives protecЖџng
ours and we owe them a great deal of respect and graЖџtude. God Bless the USA!!!!
With all that said I wish you and yours a safe and
happy Holiday.
Your Governor
Rick LeGore

ITS All ABOUT MEMBERSHIP
SICKNESS & DISTRESS
Brothers, we have reached the
midpoint of our Lodge year and
Жџme to take stock to see how we
are doing on keeping our Premiere
Lodge designaЖџon. Our New
Member quota for this year is 59.
We have enrolled a smidge over 20.
Whoops!! Okay , so we will work on that.
We need to п¬Ѓnish the year with one more acЖџve
member than we began the year with. How are we
doing, you ask? Whoops!!
Again I must get on my soap box and stress the
importance of member retenЖџon. HiЖ«ng the 59
new member quota is wonderful, but of no good if
60 members hustle out the back door. Please take
note of Membership RetenЖџon week November 2-8.
We are planning some acЖџviЖџes to help our Lodge
focus on Membership. Bring down a buddy who was
previously a member. As an incenЖџve to re-up we
will award these Brothers with a free dinner on
Thursday (Hamburger Night) or Friday (Off the menu
Night). His spouse or significant other will also eat
free. Although we work on Membership RetenЖџon
all year, Membership RetenЖџon Week is an annual
program to highlight how important retenЖџon is.
Hoping to receive your help!
Fraternally,
Ron Grace
Membership Chairman
If anyone knows of a member who is ill
or hospitalized please relay the message to a
bartender or Board member. Thank you.

Administrator’s Rambling
November, the month of
Thanksgiving… It’s the season we
tend to reflect and be grateful for
all that we have been blessed
with. Gods love, strength, love,
health, life, peace. Every day give
thanks. Easy to say, harder to do,
but graЖџfying in the big scheme of
life.
MOOSE SPOOKHOUSE was fun. We had a good Жџme
as always and earned some funds to donate to Moose
ChariЖџes. In the process.
I know it has already been stated a few Жџmes but I
need to add my thanks to all of our volunteers. All of the
lodge members who volunteered to help with our Higher
Degree banquet– outstanding, all of the volunteers who
cook, clean, arrange , donate, п¬Ѓnagle, scheme, execute,
cajole...remember...without all of you behind the scenes
there wouldn't be a Moose Lodge.
VOLUNTEER OPPOURTUNINTIES ABOUND!
Check out our informaЖџon pages (2 & 3) and the
calendar (page 8) for upcoming events. There are many
events scheduled and much to parЖџcipate in. Come join
the fun! Please share any ideas you may have for an
event or acЖџvity. We are always open to your suggesЖџons.
Don’t forget to aƩend our funcƟons this monthIt'll be worth your Ɵme!

Strong Community Service Program Builds
Awareness and Showcases Value
At various points through the year, any number of Moose
members are going to have an idea for a community service
project that their Lodge or Chapter can organize. When those
moments happen, the next step is to attend a Lodge or Chapter meeting
and present that idea, said Moose International Director of
Activities Shawn Baile.
“Under normal circumstances, a member would present his or
her idea to the Board of Officers for consideration,” Baile said.
“Ideally, if the Board of Officers feels it’s a viable idea then this
is something that would be passed to the Lodge’s Heart of the
Community Committee.”
Baile said not every idea results in a community service event.
However, he said receptiveness to members’ suggestions is
important.
“People are going to have ideas,” he said. “You don’t want to
have your mind made up before it’s presented that it’s not
going to work or that you don’t want to hear about it. Every
idea is worth being heard.”
Baile said the vitality of a Lodge operation often rests on the
strength of its commitment to being the “Heart of the Community.”
“Having a strong Community Service program can in no way
hurt your Lodge,” Baile said. “If your Lodge is doing things for
the community and it’s visible, then it’s all the more attractive
to non-members.”
To that end, Baile said it’s important to loudly proclaim the fact
that the Moose is the sponsoring organization of the event
when it takes place. “It can be something as simple as wearing a Moose hat or jacket or wearing Moose Tshirts for a highway cleanup,” Baile said. “That’s free advertising. People will
then start to
associate a Moose Lodge with doing good works in the
community. This is how people become aware of your organization.”
The most important thing, Baile said, is “you can’t be afraid to
try new things.”
