MEMBER PROFILE: A common problem among most businesses is not getting paid for services or products rendered. Hundreds of billions are lost each year due to bills unpaid, bounced checks and credit card charge backs. Like everyone who has ever been in business, John Covender understands the problems it can cause when someone doesn’t pay you. Coming from a background in restoration cleaning and construction work, he was determined to find a better way. CareSource Offers Reminder of Approaching Deadlines, OSHA Changes CareSource provided the following information that may be helpful to employers: Nov. 24, 2014 is the deadline for group rating programs, and if you are new to a group rating program we request that we receive your enrollment documents by 11/17/14 (If you are already in group rating, you will be automatically renewed into the 2015 program). Jan. 23, 2015 is the enrollment deadline for group retrospective rating programs. If you have dual invitations to both a traditional group rating program and a group retrospective rating program, please let CareSource know by Nov. 17 which program you are choosing, to ensure that you are filed into your desired program in a timely fashion. Another Billion Back: This rebate was formally approved by the board of directors of the Bureau of Workers Compensation. If you have an active and up-to-date policy or policies, you are eligible to receive a rebate which will be calculated at 60 percent of what was paid for the 2012 policy year (July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 for private employers, and Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2012 for public employers). Checks will be disbursed through November. Webinars: Group Rating and Group Retro savings/refund structures can change with each policy year, as can the program levels for which you may be eligible. OSHA Changes: The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has recently announced changes to both reporting and recordkeeping guidelines effective Jan. 1, 2015. As of Jan. 1 all employers must report:    All work-related fatalities within 8 hours (currently required). All work-related inpatient hospitalizations, any amputation or loss of an eye within 24 hours. Additionally, OSHA has greatly expanded the list of employers that must keep records, such as bakeries, auto dealers, and museums (see attached information). Employers can report to OSHA by calling 1.800.321.OSHA (6742) or by using the soon-to-be-released online form. Unemployment Compensation: You may have recently received a communication from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) regarding an electronic data exchange system available to employers. The State Information Data Exchange system (SIDES) and SIDES EResponse described in the ODJFS communication is an option for employers but not mandatory. Employers can still receive and respond to unemployment claims using their current method. All responses to ODJFS should be submitted timely and with adequate information relevant to the employment separation.
