PEER LEADER APPLICATIONS Peer Leadership is taking applications from
interested juniors for the 2015 - 2016 school year. In order to be considered
for selection as a Peer Leader, please submit the following: A completed
Peer Leader Application Form, an application essay, a completed Workshop
Permission Packet. The deadline for submitting your completed application
is: 2:15 TODAY Monday, March 23, 2015. Pick up/submit your application
to Mr. Wajnowski in room 305 or Mr. Landa in room 325.
SENIOR PROM COMMITTEE Meeting in Ms. Corbin’s Rm 418 THIS
Wednesday, March 25th at 2:30pm. Any senior may attend.
JUNIOR SPRING FLING Committee: Ms. Wetmore and Ms. Sargent will hold
a meeting from 2:30-3:30 in Rm. 237 THIS Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
We will be discussing the Spring Fling 2015 and Prom 2016. The following
students have signed up for the committee: Ashley Kularski, Timmera

GATEWAY SENIORS Effective odd Fridays, Gateway Seniors are allowed to
come to school by 8:55. You must sign in with Ms. Katz in the Cafe and
remain there until the passing bell rings.
SOPHOMORE FUNDRAISER The sophomore class will be sponsoring a fundraiser Wednesday, April 1st, 2015 4:00 p.m.
– 8:00 p.m. at the Panera Bread bakery-cafe at 1060 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511 Bring this flyer when you dine
with us on April 1st, and we’ll donate a portion of the proceeds from your purchase to Cooperative Arts and Humanities
High School. It’s a handcrafted, delicious meal, all for a great cause!
JUNIORS On Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 6:00 -7:30 pm the Co-Op guidance department will be holding an
information session in the Main Stage to address college planning and financial aid. Please plan to attend.

Our All-School Musical goes up THIS WEEK! We’re in the running again for the Connecticut High School Musical Theatre
Awards. Come support our fabulous artists as they take on the Musical Comedy Who-Dunnit “Curtains” Wednesday,
March 25th, Thursday, March 26th and Friday, March 27th at 7:00pm and Friday, March 27th at 2:30pm.
Tickets are NOW ON SALE through Ms. Pugh in the CAS Office, between 10:30a - 2:00p. In advance: $5 students, $7
adults.
GENERAL NOTICES:
SENIORS Prom season is upon us. Gentlemen, rent a tux from any CT Mens Warehouse location, give the Cooperative
Arts & Humanities High School name when you complete the order and Mens Wearhouse will donate $5 for each tux
rented to the Co-Op Senior Class. Also, if you want to take on the Prom Rep Challenge they will rent you your tux for
FREE. See senior Alex Devarez for details.
Logo Contest: A local pet store, Slither and Swim, is sponsoring a log contest! They need a new logo to use on shirts and
business cards. This contest will be open to CO-OP students only! Submissions will be open throughout March. There is a
prize for the logo selected: $75 Gift Card. Email Mr. Bella for details: terry.bella@nhboe.net
Seniors: Graduation is a few months away and not all seniors have fulfilled their obligations. Hurry and pay off your
class dues ($100 total) and participate in all events planned. Seniors will not be permitted to purchase prom tickets or
receive a yearbook until their dues are paid in full. Your class dues cover your cap and gown, diploma cover, yearbook
and senior breakfast. See Ms. Corbin in room S418 during homeroom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays or in the
science office on Tues. and Thurs. during homeroom to pay the balance of your class dues.
Juniors: Class dues are $25/year. = $100 total. You must have paid $75 by the end of this year. You can pay $5/month if
you need to! You can pay Mrs. Sargent in the Theatre Resource Room first floor. She is available before/during
homeroom or immediately after school. We would like to build a committee to begin planning the Spring Fling. If you
are interested in helping out please sign up on the sheet outside the Black Box.

Naviance. And be sure to tell your school counselors, who are eager to hear your news!
Junior Parents: The Class of 2016 Spring Fling is coming! The date is set for May 27. Any parent that can chaperon or
help with refreshments please email Ms. Wetmore or Mrs. Sargent. Put it on your calendar!!
SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
Shubert Summer Theater & Arts Camp--Job Opportunities--The Shubert Summer Theater & Arts Camp is looking for CoOp students to work as teaching assistants during camp, July 6-31. Students must be at least 16 years old. Applications
will be available starting Monday, March 16 on the bulletin board outside Ms. Wuzzardo/Ms. Alexander's office outside
the Black Box and are due by May 1. It is highly recommended that you also apply to Youth At Work
(http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/mayor/youth@work.asp) Some of our TA positions are filled through Youth At Work
Those applications can be picked up at their office at City Hall and are due April 2. As we usually have more people apply
to be a TA than there are positions, applying for Youth At Work will also help you find other summer work if you need it.
ELM SHAKESPEARE SUMMER APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM Come work with New Haven’s premiere Shakespeare
Theatre Company as they produce Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night this summer. Apprentices receive a $500 stipend at the
end of the summer and work on all elements of the production alongside professional actors, directors, and stage
managers. Applications due March 31st. Interviews will take place April 11 at Gateway. See

Fantastic Summer Opportunity! Application packets for the Aspirations for Higher Learning Pre-Collegiate Institute
have been mailed home to all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders and should be arriving this week. Aspirations is a 6-week
intensive academic summer program for New Haven area high school students who want to be challenged, and students
are selected for either the SCSU or Yale sites. The primary goal of the program is to strengthen academic skills and
prepare students for success in college. A 1-1 ½ page essay and completed application form are due by NOON on
Monday, April 13th and are followed by interviews beginning April 27th.
Successful applicants must:
Commit to attend Monday-Friday from July 1-August 7, from 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM
 
Be able to spend 12 hours (minimum) doing Community Service this summer
Be willing to do homework after their program finishes for the day
Watch your mailbox for the application envelope and see your ISSP Coordinator with any questions.
Summer Opportunity for 10th & 11th graders – Interested in Biotechnology, Health & Medical Science, Psychology or
Politics? Then you should check out the CREC / University of St. Joseph Summer Institute! It’s a 4-week Early College
Experience in West Hartford, where you live on campus from Sunday night through Thursday afternoon and come home
for 3-day weekends from July 6-30, 2015. The $250. program fee and $50. registration fee are waived for free and
reduced lunch students. Three college credits are awarded upon successful completion of the entire program.
Applications, including essay and two recommendations plus transcript and lunch form (if needed), are due by May 8th,

GUIDANCE NOTICES:
All students must enter their Community Service Hours in X2Vol through their Naviance account and then submit their
signed documentation from their community service provider to Ms. Roxy for approval of hours.
If you submitted documentation of hours before 2/27/2015, please check in w/ Ms. Freer or Ms. Roxy to see if those
hours were already submitted before you put anything in X2vol.
Any hours after 2/27/2015 must be entered by student in X2vol before they can be approved. If you have questions,
please see Ms. Freer or Ms. Roxy.
The Village Initiative Project (VIP) College Prep Program exposes inner-city gr. 9-12 students to college life through
college tours. VIP's next tour is April 7-16, 2015, to Atlanta, Georgia, and North Carolina. The tour will stop at Clark
Atlanta, Spelman, Morehouse, GA Institute of Technology, American Intercontinental, NC A&T, NC Central, UNC Chapel
Hill, Elon, Johnson C Smith, Eastern Carolina, and High Point universities. Cost per student: $495. For more info, call 203394-6688 or email vipcollegeprep.inc@gmail.com.
The QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship is for academically talented low-income high school juniors who may have no
idea that they have an advantage in admissions to top colleges. Through specialized awards and opportunities such as full
scholarships to college summer programs, invitation-only college admissions conferences, and free test-prep courses, the
College Prep Scholarship helps them to realize that advantage, and use it to become admitted to the nation's best
colleges on a full scholarship or with generous financial aid. There are not absolute criteria or cut-offs for GPA,
standardized test scores, or income; Questbridge takes a holistic approach to evaluating applications. Applications are
free, online, and due March 25, 2015. Visit questbridge.org and see your school counselor to discuss.
Juniors: On Mon, March 23, 12:30-1:30pm, Coop will host the NHPS College Fair in the gym. Grade 11 will be divided in
half with each group attending a 30-minute session at the fair. Plan ahead for which schools you'd like to see (list below)
and what you'd like to ask: this is a great chance to pick up brochures and converse with admissions representatives, but
you'll need to use your time wisely.
