The prayer behind the Amvon read near the end of the Divine Liturgy reads;
“….For all good giving, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from Thee, the Father of Lights;
and to Thee we ascribe glory, and thanksgiving, and worship, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.”
Therefore we give glory to God for blessing Johanna Kossifidis and Sam Markopoulos for providing the servanthood and example of being doers of His Word. We extend our gratitude to their families for supporting them
in their sacrificial offering of their time and talents.
Sam and Johanna, the 2nd annual Pascha Picnic was a success through your prayers and tireless offerings. May

A special expression of our gratitude we extend to Manoli Ioannidis and Costas Sisois for being at EVERY church
service and helping make coming to church a more pleasurable experience for ALL.
We note the long hours and hard work of Afrati Tassopoulos for keeping our beautiful Cathedral so clean and prepared appropriately for each service. To her husband Panagiotis, we extend our love for your patience and understanding in supporting your wife and her deep devotion to the care of God’s House. You both reach far beyond the
call of duty! May St. Nicholas always watch over your family.
There are no anthropomorphic terms sufficient to express our joy to our beautiful choir that transformed time and
space into the holy through their angelic sound under the directorship of Katie Faklis and the accompaniment of
our Diane Anastasiadis I must note the herculean task accomplished by Katie for not only directing our choir but
in parallel preparing the last minute details of her daughter’s wedding Andrea to our new brother in Christ Joey
Kopacz “Na mas zisoun!” May St. Romanos the Melodist always guide our choir in their offerings of time and
talent.
On Holy Friday evening our youth, representing the Women at the tomb, in their beautiful white dresses and under
the tutelage of DeRose Andropoulos helped bring to life the drama of the Lamentations in front of His Tomb.
Their presence increased our awareness of this most holy event in the Passion of the Christ. May St. Stephen the
First Martyr and the women present at the tomb always intercede on behalf of DeRose and the young ladies.
Great blessings have come upon us through the sacrificial offerings of our own Demetri Mott, Protopsalte of our
Cathedral. Demetri has brought the art of psaltiki, the ancient and traditional music of our holy church, to not only
the congregation but especially to our youth. We recognize Mr. George Pappas, the Protopsalte of our Holy Metropolis of Atlanta and Protopsalte of Holy Trinity Church in Clearwater, FL for molding Demetri into the psalte
he is today. May God grant many years to Mr. Pappas! Deep gratitude to Constantine Kirtsopoulos, Jeremiah
Blasko and Natalie Abdulkarin for assisting Demetri in the presentation of the beautiful hymnology of Holy Week
and throughout all of Great Lent. A very special recognition to Maria Mavromatis and Nikolas Poullas for offering
their time and talents as readers. May Ss. John Koukouzelis, Ephrem the Syrian, Romanos the Melodist,John
Damaskinos and all of the holy hymnographer/poets enhance and protect this most worthy Diakonia that Demetri
has brought to our community.
May the Theotokos and the Guardian Angel placed at the side of our Holy Altar strengthen Manuel Vestas as he
helps oversee the altar boys with the assistance of John Grigorios and George Patides.
And to all those who helped in some way but are not mentioned, we apologize and reassure you that having the
recognition of God in His Kingdom for the sharing of your time and talents far surpasses your name being committed in ink on these pages.

If a man is firm in faith he will never be confused in discussions and
disputes with heretics or unbelievers, because he has in him Jesus, the
Lord of peace and quiet. After a peaceful discussion, such a man can
lovingly bring many heretics and unbelievers to the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Savior. As for you, since discoursing on some subjects
is beyond you, keep to the royal road, that is to the faith of the 318
holy fathers (and for us now, to the faith established by the seven ecumenical councils), into which you were baptized. It contains everything stated exactly for perfect understanding. But most of all have
attention in yourself, meditating on your sins and on how you will be
received by God.

Heavenly Father, physician of our souls and bodies, who have sent Your onlybegotten Son and our Lord Jesus Christ to heal every sickness and infirmity, visit

About the beginning of His
thirty-second year, when the
Lord Jesus was going
throughout Galilee, preaching
and working miracles, many
women who had received of
His beneficence left their own
homeland and from then on
followed after Him. They
ministered unto Him out of
their own possessions, even
until His crucifixion and entombment; and afterwards,
neither losing faith in Him after His death, nor fearing the
wrath of the Jewish rulers, they came to the sepulchre, bearing the myrrh-oils they had prepared to annoint His body. It is
because of the myrrh-oils, that these God-loving women
brought to the tomb of Jesus that they are called the Myrrhbearers. Of those whose names are known are the following:
first of all, the most holy Virgin Mary, who in Matthew 27:56
and Mark 15:40 is called "the mother of James and
Joses" (these are the sons of Joseph by a previous marriage,
and she was therefore their step-mother); Mary Magdalene
(celebrated July 22); Mary, the wife of Clopas; Joanna, wife
of Chouza, a steward of Herod Antipas; Salome, the mother
of the sons of Zebedee, Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus; and Susanna. As for the names of the rest of them, the
evangelists have kept silence (Matt 27:55-56; 28:1-10. Mark
15:40-41. Luke 8:1-3; 23:55-24:11, 22-24. John 19:25; 20:1118. Acts 1:14).Together with them we celebrate also the secret disciples of the Saviour, Joseph and Nicodemus. Of
these, Nicodemus was probably a Jerusalemite, a prominent
leader among the Jews and of the order of the Pharisees,
learned in the Law and instructed in the Holy Scriptures. He
had believed in Christ when, at the beginning of our Saviour's
preaching of salvation, he came to Him by night. Furthermore, he brought some one hundred pounds of myrrh-oils and
an aromatic mixture of aloes and spices out of reverence and
love for the divine Teacher (John 19:39). Joseph, who was
from the city of Arimathea, was a wealthy and noble man, and
one of the counsellors who were in Jerusalem. He went boldly
unto Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus, and together with
Nicodemus he gave Him burial. Since time did not permit the
preparation of another tomb, he placed the Lord's body in his
own tomb which was hewn out of rock, as the Evangelist says
(Matt. 27:60).

Martyr-
Martyr St Alexandra, the Empress and
wife of Emperor Diocletion, was so
impressed by the courage and martyrdom of St George that she became a
Christian and fell under the same
persecution. She also was condemned
to be beheaded but when she arrived
at the place of execution she asked to
be allowed to sit down. Her request
was granted. She sat down and died
quietly before the executioners could
carry out their task. Her feast day is
21 April.
George the Great Martyr
& Triumphant-April 23
George, this truly great and glorious
Martyr of Christ, was born of a father from Cappadocia and a mother
from Palestine. Being a military
tribune, or chiliarch (that is, a commander of a thousand troops), he
was illustrious in battle and highly
honoured for his courage. When he
learned that the Emperor Diocletian
was preparing a persecution of the Christians, Saint George
presented himself publicly before the Emperor and denounced
him. When threats and promises could not move him from his
steadfast confession, he was put to unheard-of tortures, which
he endured with great bravery, overcoming them by his faith
and love towards Christ. By the wondrous signs that took
place in his contest, he guided many to the knowledge of the
truth, including Queen Alexandra, wife of Diocletian, and was
finally beheaded in 296 in Nicomedia.
His sacred remains were taken by his
servant from Nicomedia to Palestine,
to a town called Lydda, the homeland
of his mother, and then were finally
transferred to the church which was
raised up in his name. (The translation
of the Saint's holy relics to the church
in Lydda is commemorated on November 3; Saint Alexandra the Queen,
on April 21.)

ηλικία,
διεκπεραίωνε
τις
στρατιωτικές
του
υποχρεώσεις τέλεια. Όλοι τον θαύμαζαν για το
παράστημα του. Γι' αυτό, γρήγορα τον προήγαγαν σε
ανώτερα αξιώματα και του έδωσαν τον τίτλο του
κόμητος. Συνέβη, όμως, την εποχή εκείνη ό
Διοκλητιανός να κηρύξει λυσσώδη διωγμό κατά των
χριστιανών. Ό Γεώργιος ήταν 28 χρονών και χωρίς
δισταγμούς ομολόγησε την πίστη του, παρά τα
αξιώματα πού του είχαν δώσει. Ό Διοκλητιανός δεν
το περίμενε και έφριξε για τη στάση του Γεωργίου.
Τότε άρχισε για τον Άγιο μια σειρά φρικτών
βασανιστηρίων, αλλά και θαυμάτων, πού έφεραν
πολλούς ειδωλολάτρες στη χριστιανική πίστη. Αφού
τον λόγχισαν, ξέσχισαν τις σάρκες του με ειδικό
τροχό από μαχαίρια. Έπειτα, τον έριξαν σε λάκκο με
βραστό ασβέστη και κατόπιν τον ανάγκασαν να
βαδίσει με πυρωμένα μεταλλικά παπούτσια. Από
όλα αυτά ό Θεός τον κράτησε ζωντανό και έγινε
αίτια να εξευτελιστούν τα είδωλα και οι εκφραστές
τους. Τέλος, τον αποκεφαλίζουν προσευχόμενο.
Κατά την Εκκλησία μας, ό ένδοξος αυτός
μεγαλομάρτυρας είναι ό μαργαρίτης ό πολύτιμος, ό
αριστεύς ό θείος, ό λέων ό ένδοξος, ό αστήρ ό
πολύφωτος, του Χριστού οπλίτης, της ουρανίου
στρατιάς ό συνόμιλος. Ο Άγιος Γεώργιος είναι από
τους πλέον αγαπημένους αγίους των Κυπρίων με
τους περισσοτέρους ναούς και εικόνες. Στην Ιερά
Μητρόπολη Μόρφου σώζονται δύο παλαιές
διαλελυμένες σήμερα Μονές.

Η ΑΓΙΑ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΑ ή βασίλισσα και οι
ακόλουθοι της ΑΠΟΛΛΩΣ, ΙΣΑΑΚΙΟΣ
και ΚΟΔΡΑΤΟΣ- 21 Απριλίου
Ή αγία Αλεξάνδρα ήταν σύζυγος του Βασιλιά
Διοκλητιανού. Εντελώς διαφορετική όμως από
'κείνον, πού ήταν φίλος της βίας και του αίματος.
Αυτή διακρινόταν για την ήμερη ψυχική της διάθεση
και την εύσπλαχνη και φιλάνθρωπη ζωή της. Στό
μεταξύ μια χριστιανή της μετέδωσε το λόγο του
Θεού, πού τη συγκίνησε τόσο, ώστε με χαρά τον
αποδέχτηκε. Ή χάρη του Κυρίου μεγάλωνε μέσα της
το φωτισμό, και το θείο έλεος την αξίωσε κατά το
μαρτύριο του αγίου Γεωργίου, να αισθανθεί μέσα της
την πνοή και την ορμή της πίστης στο Χριστό. Τότε
παρακάλεσε τον αυτοκράτορα σύζυγο της, να
διατάξει την παύση τω διωγμών εναντίον των
Χριστιανών. Και διακήρυξε ότι καταγγέλλει μπροστά
στον αληθινό θεό τους διώκτες των χριστιανών, και
ομολογεί και αυτή τον Ιησού Χριστό. ο αυτοκράτορας
στην αρχή, νόμισε ότι ή σύζυγος του έπαθε
διανοητική διατάραξη. 'Αλλ' εκείνη διαμαρτυρήθηκε
και επανέλαβε την ομολογία της. ο Διοκλητιανός
τότε εξοργισμένος, διέταξε και την έριξαν στην πιο
σκοτεινή φυλακή, όπου και πέθανε προσευχομένη.
Το παράδειγμα της συγκίνησε και τρεις από τους
ακολούθους της, τον Άπολλώ, τον Ίσαάκιο και τον
Κοδράτο. Ομολόγησαν και αυτοί ότι είναι χριστιανοί
και τον μεν Κοδράτο αποκεφάλισαν, τους δε Άπολλώ
και Ίσαάκιο υπέβαλαν σε θάνατο δια πείνας και
δίψας.
Ο ΑΓΙΟΣ ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ ο Μεγαλομάρτυρας
και Τροπαιοφόρος23 Απριλίου
Ό μεγαλομάρτυς Γεώργιος γεννήθηκε περίπου το 275
μ.Χ. στην Καππαδοκία, από γονείς χριστιανούς. Ό
πατέρας του, μάλιστα, πέθανε μαρτυρικά για το
Χριστό. Όταν ό Γεώργιος έγινε 18 χρονών,
