Prayer for a Sick Person
Heavenly Father, physician of our souls and bodies, who have sent Your only-begotten Son and our
Lord Jesus Christ to heal every sickness and infirmity, visit and heal me Your servant from all physical
and spiritual ailments through the grace of Your Christ. Grant me patience in this sickness, strength of
body and spirit, and recovery of health. Lord, You have taught us through Your word to pray for each
other that we may be healed. I pray that You heal me as Your servant and grant me the gift of complete
health. For You are the source of healing and to You I give glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

that will not disrupt the baby's routine. ANY day you would like. 9am through

"Death is vanquished, Christ our God is risen

απάντησε: “ Aπό παιδάκι.
μου” ! Kαι σαν είδε ο Iησούς ότι

“’πιστη γενιά! Mέχρι πότε θα είμαι μαζί σας;

ΤΗΕ EPISTLE
asked your disciples to cast it out, and they
were not able." And he answered them, "O
faithless generation, how long am I to be with
you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring
him to me." And they brought the boy to him;
and when the spirit saw him, immediately it
convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground
and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. And
Jesus asked his father, "How long has he had
this?" And he said, "From childhood. And it
has often cast him into the fire and into the
water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us." And Jesus
said to him, "If you can! All things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe;
help my unbelief!" And when Jesus saw that a
crowd came running together, he rebuked the
unclean spirit, saying to it, "You dumb and
deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him,
and never enter him again." And after crying
out and convulsing him terribly, it came out,
and the boy was like a corpse; so that most of
them said, "He is dead." But Jesus took him by
the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And
when he had entered the house, his disciples
asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it
out?" And he said to them, "This kind cannot
be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting." They went on from there and passed
through Galilee. And he would not have any
one know it; for he was teaching his disciples,
saying to them, "The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill
him; and when he is killed, after three days he
will rise."
St. Paul's Letter to the
Hebrews 6:13-20
BRETHREN, when God made a promise to
Abraham, since he had no one greater by
whom to swear, he swore to himself, saying,
"Surely I will bless you and multiply you."
And thus Abraham, having patiently endured,
obtained the promise. Men indeed swear by a
greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation. So
when God desired to show more convincingly
to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable
character of his purpose, he interposed with an
oath, so that through two unchangeable things,
in which it is impossible that God should
prove false, we who have fled for refuge might
have strong encouragement to seize the hope
set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into
the inner shrine behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf,
having become a high priest for ever after the
order of Melchizedek.
THE GOSPEL
Mark 9:17-31
At that time, a man came to Jesus kneeling
and saying: "Teacher, I brought my son to
you, for he has a dumb spirit; and wherever it
seizes him it dashes him down; and he foams
and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid; and I

Catechetical Ministry Lesson
The Fourth Sunday of Great Lent
St. John Climacus: the Ladder of Divine Ascent
Prayer, as defined by St. John Climacus, is the “friendship with God”, that is setting of the mind
on the meditation of God and the love of His Divine Word. St. John wrote “The Ladder of Divine
Ascent”. The 80 chapters help us understand the progress of our spiritual struggle to attain salvation. “For no one can climb a ladder in just one stride”, it requires patience and time. (Step 7)
The Ladder of Divine Ascent, was written as a guide to the monastic life; it teaches how build a
foundation, fight the evils which tempt us, and how to be a good person and live with love and humility. It is considered to be so important that it is universally read in its entirety in monasteries
during the Great Fast.
In the icon above, Saint John Climacus is seen standing at the foot of the ladder. With his right
hand he directs our attention towards the ladder, while in his left hand he holds a scroll on which
is written: "Ascend, ascend, Brethren."
The feast day of Saint John Climacus is March 30, however, due to the popularity of the
Saint and the practice of not having weekday Divine Liturgies during Great Lent, the Orthodox
Church commemorates the Saint on the Fourth Sunday of Lent.
1. How did St. John Climacus define prayer? 2. What s the name of the book that St. John
Climacus wrote? 3. Why was the book written? 4. What simple object was used in the writings to help all understand the writings of St. John. 5. Where is the writings read in their entirety? 6.. How many chapters are contained in the writings of St. John?

REGISTRATION FOR HOLY FRIDAY RETREAT
We are very excited to announce our Holy Friday Retreat, which will take place on Friday, May 3,
2013 at Fr. Tryfon Hall. Since it is very important that we prepare properly for our students, we are asking that ALL
children be PREREGISTERED.
We will not register children on the day of our Retreat, as this takes away precious time from our
teaching, due to this concern, we will not be able to accept students who have not registered in advance.
Students who are eligible to attend our Holy Friday Retreat are from the ages of
Preschool to 8th grade. Preschool thru 1st grade classes begin at 10:00 am-12:30 pm.
Pre-registration forms are due back to the Catechetical School on or before Sunday, April 26, 2013. Please
see Maria Angeliadis or Galatiani Maglis or drop off at the Church office to be placed in the Catechetical
mailbox.
At this time, due to the limited amount of teachers and volunteers, we are only able to accommodate a certain number of students. Please be sure to pre-register NO later than April 26, 2013.
If you would be willing to help us as volunteers/teachers, please call 727-938-4610 no
later than April 26, 2013. (Volunteers must have fingerprints on file with Fr. Michael.
We would greatly appreciate your help, since with more volunteers for our classrooms;
we will be able to accommodate more students.
